The virtual safari has become one of my favorite subjects. Ever since James started his stories, during Covid. I was looking forward ,every week, to his wonderful updates. Great videos. Lovely commentary. I never missed a week. Thanks very much for that James. You made me feel part of your Londolozi world. After that . With Sean. This routine carried on. I watch religiously. Just about every week. Still am. I love to get the latest updates. Get excited when good news comes through. Sad or disappointed, when there’s bad news. Let’s hope that this virtual safari keeps us glued to our screens for many years to come. It is a wonderful part of my life

What a wonderful and rightful tribute to these incredible visual storytellers. I’ve been watching every week since the beginning, longing for my time to return to Londolozi. It plays while I make breakfast. Just the other week my husband said, “It wouldn’t be Sunday without the sounds of Londolozi coming from the kitchen.” Thank you, Richmond James and Sean for creating and contributing to a platform that brings so much joy to millions of people the world over.

A beautiful piece Shannon…and as Chelsea writes…”a rightful tribute”.!
These men have kept Londolozi alive for so many of us from afar….
Sean….keep up the amazing work….your unwavering commitment, hard work and delivery…..are a gift to us.
My husband and I are so grateful for this connection to Londolozi

Thank you Shannon for this wonderful tribute to the 3 men who started and continued the Virtual Safari. I have been to Londolozi twice and continue to enjoy feeling like I am there through blogs and virtual safaris. Sometimes I feel such an emotional attachment when viewing that tears come to my eyes. I feel like Londolozi is always calling me to come back and spend time there. It is my African home away from home. I am truly blessed to have been to Londolozi and experienced the wonder and magic and to have the internet to connect me once again.

We fell in love with Londolozi many years ago, reading the book “I Speak of Africa.” Visiting the first time felt like the fulfillment of a dream, and the dream continued each time thereafter. During Covid, the safaris became a weekly ritual that continues to this day. Following the lives of leopards that we have grown to love, seeing the elephants and giraffes move majestically across the landscape and hearing the sound of the bush is magical. Thank you for these weekly safaris, and formaintaining the spirit of Londolozi

I absolutely LOVE Virtual Safari!!! Started watching James in 2020 and it’s my Sunday ritual ever since. I was so bummed to see James leave (but following his adventures on Insta), however Sean has taken the reigns spectacularly! They are both so smart and funny and bring safari to people in the best way. We have been fortunate to visit Africa twice (tho not Londolozi – YET!) and am so glad that you share your Sunday’s with the world because the world NEEDS this! Thank you to you all! xox

Hi Shannon! It’s such a pleasure to read you blog edition. A summary of “living gods” as far as leopards are regarded., mighty elephants and the videos, the Honey badger rescue operation stays forever with me . I miss James Tyrrell’s blog editions, I was totally enchanted. I equally enjoy you blog editions and videos. My heart skipped a beat when the elephant bull displayed in front of Sean! Simply magnificent and magic… thanks to you all!

We began to fall in love with Londolozi during the Covid-19 lockdown. Our trip to Africa in May 2020 had to be cancelled. When we found James on YouTube doing the virtual Safari’s we were mesmerized and watched expectantly every week, sometimes with our domestic cats watching, too, from our laps. It is because of these Virtual Safaris that we decided to go to Londolozi in January 2025. We had the good fortune of meeting James , who was visiting Londolozi, while we were there and he came on a couple of our drives with us. We were happy that we had a chance to tell him how his virtual safaris brought us there. Of course, we deeply fell in love with Londolozi (the people who work there, the beautiful bush and the awesome animals that live there) We had to come back, and we did in March of this year. Sometimes you fear that returning to a beloved place will not live up to your first experience expectations but we were not disappointed and found Londolozi filled our hearts to the brim. Now we are planning a third return and as we wait for that day to come we are most grateful for Sean who takes us with him every week. We get to see and hear about many of the beautiful animals that we met and follow the course of their lives until we meet again. Thank you, Sean, for your hard and loving work. What you bring to us each week is a marvellous gift.

A wonderful article on these three founders and keepers of the Londolozi blog. I look forward to hearing, seeing and reading about my favourite place every day, especially to the Sunday video. Wherever I am I try to watch the weekly video and read all the blogs.
It is a connection to a place that is really dear to me and to which I want to return as often as possible to experience all the wonders of nature myself. So it’s really fantastic that you have these blogs and shortens the time between visits and, of course, I am very happy to see and read how all my darling animals at Londolozi are doing. Sometimes it’s sad new, often funny, always very interesting and exciting.

All three these amazing men are storytellers that keep you bound to your seat until the last word. I started watching Virtual Safari with James as the Storyteller, in 2019 until today. Every Sunday I would religiously watch my video enjoying every moment James photographed or video. His sense of humor was hilarious and I just loved watching him on his mission of storytelling and explaining everything in absolute detail. His passion is contagious and every Sunday was a highlight to view his Virtual Safari. I and many other viewers were devastated when James left. Sean took over and his storytelling, photography and video’s is just as good as what James did. Sean is very hard on himself at times when things don’t pan out the way he wanted it to go. He always tries his utmost best to get the best photography done and explaining to us what is happening in different situations. Just like with the Xinkhova female and her two cubs how he took the whole video on explaining her first time mother situation, which I really appreciated. We wish James all the best on all his endeavors and that he will Excell in everything he has accomplished. For Sean we wish him all the best on his photography, videography and storytelling.
He has a mountain of work to do and we appreciate it tremendously. Having their birthdays together on the same day says so much about the 3 of them or one day apart makes it even more special.

Thank you to all of you involved in (or previously involved in) The Virtual Safari – and to Shannon for this story. I came to Londolozi a couple of years ago and a friend has just returned from there. Hearing her stories, and keeping up via this blog makes me determined to return.

Shannon,
This is such a masterfully crafted tribute to three men who have separately and collectively brought the stories of Londolozi to so many followers across our planet. I had no idea that it was Rich Laburn who was the first mastermind behind bringing the stories of Londolozi – captivating an audience with blogs written by staff including photos of leopards and lions and other wildlife that soon became an integral part of many readers’ lives. Everything that happened to these creatures resonated with that part of us that love and support nature. And then the virtual safari debuted, allowing us to ride along with James as he narrated what was happening in the bush – for me, an early Sunday morning treat. If it didn’t appear in my normal email, I’d go to the internet to track it down. The transition from James to Sean was seamless so well done to everyone involved. I’ve been fortunate to visit regularly for the last few years, but when I can’t be there, I look forward to the blogs and virtual safari to keep me up to date , especially with the leopards.
So this is a long reply to say Thank You, for caring about sharing the Londolozi stories and bringing the light into all of your followers lives. I for one, really appreciate all of the work and dedication produced by the Creative Hub.

What a wonderful tribute blog – to Virtual Safari and to the 3 men behind it. Our Sunday mornings wouldn’t be the same without it, taking us directly back to our “Happy Place!”

What a great tribute 3 AMAZING Men…
Sunday Mornings wouldn’t be the same without watch the Virtual Safari & reading the blogs.
It’s the first thing I watch and read when I wake up.
I can close my eyes, take a deep breath and be back in Londolozi… there is no place like it on earth. It will always be in my heart.
Thank you Gentlemen and your teams for sharing your amazing talent of storytelling with the world!

Thank you Shannon for putting this together – a real walk down memory lane! I do remember Richie’s blogs, not sure when he started them? And I well remember James and his wonderful video blogs. They shone a light into the Covid darkness when, like so many, we’d had to postpone our trip. I really felt I was back there. However good photos are, there’s no substitute for sound and motion – just hearing ellies walking through water is magical. I still play your Dawn Chorus” blog (from June 2020) when I do yoga. And Sean, thank you so much for so ably continuing to make Sundays special!
Oh and thanks for including the honey badger rescue, really enjoyed watching it again
