Michael found his first Londolozi track as a sophomore in college when he picked up Boyd Varty’s Cathedral of the Wild. In it, Michael saw a place that embodied his childhood fascination with the culture and warmth of Africa and knew he had to find his way there.
After studying natural science and colonial history at Amherst and Cambridge, Michael could not shake the feeling that his tracks were leading to Londolozi. A visit to Varty Camp with his parents and brother steeled his resolve, and thanks to a leap of faith by Dave Varty Michael arrived at Londolozi in October 2019 with a guitar on his shoulder to lend his voice to the Londolozi story.
