Everyone has one great love in their life, be it a spouse, a place, or simply the one that got away…
The wonderful intoxication you feel towards that love can quite simply take your breath away. You get tongue-tied, weak at the knees and your heart starts to flutter at the mere mention of their name.
Those who are or have been in love will know exactly what we are talking about, and for those who have yet to experience the overwhelming euphoria of that incredible emotional cocktail… trust us, it’s worth the wait!
Now, rangers clad in khaki are not renowned for being the emotional type. Sure, they love what they do, but truth be told the general public would put them as far more comfortable changing a Land Rover tyre or standing down a charging elephant than opening up emotionally.
Yet when we interviewed the Londolozi guides in the build-up to this Valentine’s day, about the greatest love they had ever had, they were surprisingly forthcoming in their responses. A few got choked up, some tears flowed, but it was incredible to witness the common ground and depth of emotion that these rugged men shared.

Personally I’d rather take my chances with a 2.5 metre black mamba,a buffalo bull in a reed bed, an elephant in mutsh or those lions I had in my camp at Mabuasehube than face the girl I have a crush on at the moment!
