I found it harder than usual to choose the top ten photographs of the month – there seems to be an endless selection of brilliant images taken by the ranging team and guests alike.
The action in the wild has been consistent and always enthralling. Hearing and reading about these stories, provides us with our daily wild ‘fix.’
Playful moments between animals were seen and captured, the incredible sighting of the hippo, wildebeest cow and crocodile was once again shared (a different angle to what we had previously featured, with a closer zoom).
More recently Ranger Amy Attenborough watched in amazement at the herd dynamics of elephants as they welcomed the birth of a newborn calf. And while not included in the pictures below, Sean Cresswell takes us through his harrowing and insightful account of a wild dog and lion attack and what it was like to witness one of the crueler sides of nature…

To our surprise a hippo approached the scene. We had initially hoped that the big animal was coming to chase the crocodile away and we had a glimmer of hope at this stage for the poor wildebeest. Neil Goodes

2. The Piva male, another excellent pose, high-quality photography;
3. Amy’s photo of the newborn elephant, not only a wonderful photo, but she captured the essence of life and renewal in South Africa.

Tough to pick three! I think the Tsalala lioness at dusk, the baby elephant and the closeup of the wildebeest, hippo and croc – although it’s hard to leave Camp Pan out!

I agree, the black and white are very striking. The cropped elephant would make a great canvas print.
