Two months ago, we released Courageous Acts of Healing – the first chapter in our three-part documentary series celebrating 100 years of Londolozi. The response has been extraordinary. We have felt honoured that thousands of people, from all corners of the world, have been watching our story. Your comments, your messages, the conversations it started – we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love we have received for Part 1 and for the opportunity to share our story with our global Londolozi family in this, our 100th year.
Now, it is time to share what happened next.
Pioneers and Pathfinders
Part 1 told the story of healing a land. Part 2 tells the story of what a group of people chose to build on it.
A group of teenagers. No money. No experience. No plan. Just a promise to their mother that they would not let the wilderness die – and a refusal to walk away, despite being advised to do so.
What followed was one of the most unlikely stories in African conservation. A game reserve born around a campfire grew into a conservation development movement, carried by a group of like-minded people – trackers, guides, chefs, raconteurs, storytellers, artists – living the principles of Care of the Land, Care of the Wildlife, Care of the People. This ultimately shaped a modern blueprint in safari, resulting in 29 lodges across the continent. Corporate expansion brought hard lessons, but it gave nature a seat at the table and ultimately birthed an industry. And when a new generation walked back through the door, they carried all of it with them: the original promise, the hard-won knowledge, and the question of which track to follow.
This is a story about the tension between expanding a pioneering model and going deep. And about the courage it takes to choose.

Thanks for the update Amanda on the release date for part 2 of the Documentary. I’ve returned to part 1 a couple of times not only because it is fascinating but I learn a bit more as well. I’ve marked my calendar and look forward to Part 2.
These early days at Londolozi look like a lot of fun. The old landrover looks so different from the sophisticated cars you have nowadays, but obviously your guests and the family enjoyed it very much.
