An outstanding morning of lion viewing at Londolozi Game Reserve…
The much loved Tailless Female was found together with the core of the Tsalala Pride. This pride has been operating under the radar of late and it is heart warming to see them all in good health. Two interesting pointers here is that the Tailless Female is looking fine following her nasty encounter a few days ago, which left her looking worse for wear. A second fact, which I find intriguing, is that the three youngsters and the three adults were joined by a single Majingilane Coalition male. Now I may be wrong, but this is the first time since the killing of the Tsalala cub on the 26th December last year, that the Tsalala Pride have been seen with one of the males. This can only be good news and hopefully a sign that things may be on the mend between these two groupings.
The two remaining Mapogo males were also found this morning on the remains of a large buffalo that they killed. Judging by the position of the buffalo, they must have killed it whilst it was drinking. Prior to the death of their brother, Satan, the Mapogo Males would never have been in this area. The four Southern Males were also found in the heart of what was previously Mapogo territory so it appears that there has been a near direct swop of land.
And lastly another member of the ever present Majingilane Coalition was seen in the eastern areas of Londolozi. This concluded a marvelous few hours of lion viewing and really drives home the point that this winter we are in for some unbelievable lion sightings and potential encounters.

Thank you Adam for these updates! Good to know that the Mapogos made a kill. I read on the Mapogo FB page that you saw them in the southern/dudly area. Is this area Majigis territory? or Kruger male’s? or is it no man’s (i mean lion’s) land?
In what shape are the two remaning mapogos??
All good news … thanks Adam! Not sure it will stay that way, but lets hope there is some calm for a while.
Thank you Adam for your thorough update….we have waited for so long for someone to give us a sighting on BB…it just makes me cry to know she is alive and well…thank you thank you….and then the icing on the cake is our second report on the Mapogos. We love them so….I hope they can find just a little niche of land that they can call their own. Bless you and keep on rockin BB and Mapogo’s.!!!!
Dear Adam,
Thanks, this is good news. How is BB doing ? Moving around normally ? And which one of the Majingilane males is now spending time with the Tsalalas ? Hope the Tsalalas find some stability.
Hello patrick… what happened to bb? why is she injured?
thank you
Thank you for the update on these wonderful lions.. Happy to hear the Mapogos are doing well and that the tail less lady is also doing well.. Is this BB? I remember seeing her on the Safari drives in Djuma…
thank you again..always appreciate all of your blogs.
Love to hear all the updated news, thank you Adam.
Thanks for the update Adam. Who (or what) did Tailless have an encounter with recently? I’m glad she is fine but the presence of the Majing male makes me nervous. Maybe since the remaining cubs are all female, there is not as much danger.
Hope the Mapogos can avoid a confrontation with the Majingilanes or else they will lose another member.
Wonderful news all round for a change. Thank goodness BB is alive and well and the Mapogo two are still doing well. Did you get any photos or video of BB or the Mapogo boys? Thank you Adam for this good news blog.
