Interesting. It is amazing how the animals adapt to survive.

Good & Honest Blog James. By being married I can agree. One would not do something, if not worthwhile. It just would not make sense..
Nature, I believe, never just DO… AND, if they do, there is a reason.

What an incredible blog today. You have fed us detailed information that most of us have not considered as related to the human/animal world. Stotting- a new term. I’ve seen it displayed by impalas when lions slowly saunter into their area but just considered it an act of running away from potential danger.
Thank you for continuing to enlighten those of us who do not have regular access to your everyday world. Just love learning…….

Very interesting, James. I would definitely be one of the Impalas at the back and would be wonderful cannon fodder for the wild dogs – because there is just NO WAY I would be able to even manage ONE “stot”. I am heading for 81 in April and have had a hip replacement and a knee op on the other leg. Cheers. Wendy M

Interesting idea, I hadn’t heard of the Zahavian Principle before. Of course, I can’t help but hear my college biology professor say, “Why would you want a man with a fancy car? What makes you think he has any money left over for you?” Hahaha!

The subtleties of the bush are infinite

Fascinating!

What a fascinating insight into animal behaviour and once again I am reminded of how much we humans are like other animals.

Once more, you amaze with your experience, research and insight! Fabulous article. Makes one think of our other “grand gestures” as a means of warning off threats or attracting mates. Thank you!
