We are proud that we have been lauded internationally for our progressive land and wildlife management. After all, it’s a focus on these things that contributes to Londolozi delivering some of the most exceptional game-viewing on the planet.
However, we are also proud that we are lauded internationally for our productive community involvement. Londolozi is the founding patron of Good Work Foundation (GWF), a non-profit organisation that delivers world-class education to the rural communities that surround the Greater Kruger National Park.
In December 2017, GWF was announced as the WINNER in the Africa category at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School Reimagine Education awards. According to Kate Groch, GWF CEO:
“This accomplishment could not have happened without Londolozi and its guests. So many visitors to Londolozi have been extremely generous over the years, but more than that, they believe that education needs a shake-up and they aren’t afraid of the word ‘disruption.’ I am so grateful that we have been able to meet like-minded people who support our innovative approach.”
In celebration of this award, today we’re sharing a video that champions GWF’s belief in wonder-filled learning:
If you would like to make a contribution to GWF, you can do so online via this link. If you are based in the US, you have a second option of donating to GWF USA Foundation, a registered public 501 c 3. For the latter option, please contact GWF’s Development Coordinator, Ms. Verena Wagner, who will share all of the details with you.
Congratulations. GWF is doing fantastic work educating our children.
Thanks so much Marinda. Please pop in when you next drive past!
Thank you for the invitation Ryan. Will definitely visit sometime.
What an amazing recognition for a wonderful project. Well done to all of you. Look forward to further conversation.
Thanks Penny and we look forward to seeing you in the south 🙂
Wonderful and congratulation!
However, I have a question: Why are there so many more boys than girls in the pictures? Does this mean that far more boys than girls are involved or is it just a coincidence that there were not more girls around when the picture was taken?
Hi Christa,
Just a coincidence in the photo 🙂
Hi Christa, Jamo answered your question, but just to add: (1) Of our scholars, there is a 50:50 gender ration; (2) Of our adult students, we have an 80% female enrolment; (3) Of our 80 staff, 75% are women; (4) Of our Heads of Campus, 75% are women; (5) and of our Executive Committee, 80% are women. We were delighted, in 2016, to win the PWC National Empowerment of Women in the Community award! I am clearly in the minority, but I feel very privileged to be part of an organisation that is breaking all kinds of rural stereotypes.
Congratulation Kate, Ryan and all involved in GWF. What a special honor to be recognized by Wharton! We are proud to be supporters and enjoy watching your progress!
Thank you Michael and Terri and everyone from Sarasota and the larger Michaels-on-East community for being part of this movement. Re-thinking education! Re-imagining learning. It’s the next generation who are going to shape the future 🙂
Congratulation to GWF on winning that prestigious award!!
On behalf of everyone at GWF, thanks very much Callum!
Only a pleasure!!
Having been involved with GWF for several years, I’m so,pleased about your recognition. Such a worthy cause!
Dear Al – Your involvement over the years means more to us than you know. Your donations are always generous, but we always also look forward to your kind words of encouragement. The growing voices of encouragement from around the world mean that people care about a new kind of education and they believe that we need to reimagine how learning works. We can’t wait to see what 2025 looks like 🙂
Great blog post and congratulations. Is there information in the rooms about GWF?
Hi Jeff – thank you so much. We are in the process of updating the GWF room info. You are welcome to send me an email and I will send you some information about our model in Mpumalanga. – ryan@goodworkfoundation.org. Thanks again 🙂
Always good news from GWF. Thanks, Ryan. ?
