In going down into the deep southwestern grasslands in search of the Birmingham Male, we encounter such a spectacular scene of sheer abundance. Zebra dazzles by the dozens, elephants, more impala than we can count, a fair few wildebeest and a large herd of about 400 buffalo all in the same area. So we halt our search for the Birmingham Male and just enjoy the scene that surrounds us. On our way out we enjoy some time with a large buffalo bull as he thoroughly enjoys his mud bath, completely caking himself in thick dark mud.
We then lend a hand to a few other rangers in the search of the Three Rivers Female and her cub, only to make use of a few trustworthy alarm calls from some monkey in the tops of the trees nearby. The Three Rivers Female and her cub amble their way down the Maxabene Riverbed, climbing a few trees and exploring on their way. Our sighting ends when they bump into what we believe to be the Maxim’s Male in some very thick vegetation.

Oh Sean this was a spectacular view of all these animals together. Loved every minute use of viewing them. The little Zebra foal is so at ease walking around there. So good to see the Zebra, Impala’s, wildbeast and buffalo all in one viewing and don’t forget about the rhino. Loved the Three Rivers female and her cub. She also seems to be pretty at ease with the vehicle around her. So very glad that her cub has already made it this far, hope that it will make it to adulthood. Oh that buffalo is so enjoying himself in the mud.

What a spectacular scene of the African open grasslands in all its summer glory ….filled with so much life. The rains have been kind and the game is certainly abundant. Just wonderful ! What great scenes with all the big herds of different animals in the grasslands of south-western Londolozi. Just fantastic to have so many different species more or less in one area together. The Leopardess and her cub are again such graceful and beautiful animals.

What a wonderful virtual safari this week Sean, from the herds of plains animals to Three Rivers female and her cub. Just sitting in the grasslands, watching the zebras, buffaloes, impalas, wildebeest, and the lone rhino, truly makes one feel they’re in the heart of the African wilderness. The star was the mud-wallowing Buffalo, who looked so content rolling in his pond.
Of course, seeing the two leopards together, traversing the road next to the vehicle is always exciting and I certainly hope that this little one makes it to independence.
