Summer camp isn’t just for children.
In fact, we’d argue that adults need it even more.
A place to unplug. To rise with the sun. To sit by a fire, glass of wine in hand. To reconnect with nature, with others, with ourselves.
Summer camps capture something we all crave—freedom, connection, and wonder. At Londolozi, we’ve reimagined that feeling through a new lens: one of barefoot luxury, adventure, and deep connection to nature.
Here’s what it looks like…
Experience nature like nowhere else:
Summer camps are always set in idyllic natural spaces — places to switch off from the outside world and return to our roots. That’s why Londolozi is the perfect setting for your summer escape. Situated at the heart of some of the most breathtaking wilderness landscapes, Londolozi is surrounded by flowing rivers, expansive grasslands, and ancient forests.
What’s truly special about Londolozi is that you don’t have to go looking for nature — it finds you.
It’s in the bird calls that wake you up, the fresh air during your outdoor shower, and the bushbuck quietly passing by as you walk to breakfast. Over time, you start to notice how nature weaves into your daily routine, and how healing those small moments can be.
Reawaken Curiosity:
At the heart of every summer camp is curiosity. At Londolozi, that curiosity is sparked by the wild. Each day brings something new — a set of tracks in the sand, the call of a fish eagle, the chance to spot something moving in the grass. Game drives aren’t just about seeing animals; they’re about learning to pay attention, to ask questions, to notice the small things.
Curiosity thrives in the presence of great teachers — and at Londolozi, they’re everywhere. Rangers and trackers share their deep knowledge of the bush on game drives, helping you see the wild with new eyes. But the learning continues off the vehicle too. Everyone you meet around camp, from butlers to housekeepers, has a story to tell — about the land, the culture, and life in this part of the world.
Wherever you are, there’s something or someone to learn from.
Campfire Evenings and Shared Stories:
Some things don’t need reinventing. Sitting around a fire is one of them.
Evenings at Londolozi echo that nostalgic campfire magic – though instead of roasting marshmallows, you might sip a glass of South African red wine beneath the stars as stories unfold into the night.
At Londolozi, gathering around the campfire is a time-honored tradition that has been part of the experience for nearly 100 years. Like summer camp, it’s those simple moments — sharing stories, laughter, and quiet reflection under the stars — that bring people together and create lasting connections.
Time to Be Still:
Summer camp is a time to simply be.
At Londolozi, you’ll have plenty of space to slow down and unwind. You might visit the Healing House for a massage or guided breathwork session, ease into a peaceful yoga flow, or simply sink into a chair on your private deck, taking in the soothing sounds and sights of the wilderness around you.
While summer camp is filled with adventure and activity, it’s also about finding stillness in nature and yourself. It’s a rare opportunity to step away from the noise of urban life: the traffic, the schedules, the constant buzz. At Londolozi, you can truly switch off and come alive in the quiet presence of the wilderness, allowing space to pause, breathe, and refill your energy.
Rediscover the Joy of Leisure:
At its heart, summer camp is all about having fun and soaking up the joys of summer — long, warm afternoons filled with laughter and quality time with friends and family.
And of course, summer is made for pool days — cooling off with a chilled G&T, stretching out in the sun, and letting time slow down. At Londolozi, those fun, sun-soaked hours between game drives are just as memorable as the moments out in the bush.
Camp Comfort, Reimagined:
Just like the cabins of a traditional summer camp, Londolozi’s suites offer a sense of retreat — warm, comfortable, and immersed in nature.
Each one opens onto views of the riverbed, with a private plunge pool and an open-air shower that lets the outside in. The design is simple and thoughtful, offering quiet luxury without distraction — a space to slow down, take in the wilderness, and feel completely at ease.
One of the simplest pleasures of summer camp was falling asleep to the sounds of nature. At Londolozi, it’s no different. You might hear lions calling in the distance, crickets in the grass, or a scops owl nearby — a quiet reminder that the wild is all around you.
It’s a more grown-up kind of camp — where you’re still part of the outdoors, living close to nature, but with the comfort of space, stillness, and good rest.
The summers of childhood may be behind us — but that feeling isn’t gone.
At Londolozi, it’s still here. Just waiting for you to come find it again.
Londolozi is the pinnacle of summer camps!
Thank you, Chelsea!

So, hopefully see Londolozi soon…
We hope you do hop on that plane soon, Christa! Londolozi will be waiting to welcome you.
Anytime is the best time to attend “camp” at Londolozi, where the sounds of the modern world give way to the wild sounds of nature, some soft and soothing whilst others echo the hoots of hyenas and the roar of lions. Stories around the boma fire and at the sundowner stop add to the camp experience. Even though I was there recently, I’m already longing for my next visit.
So true, Denise — the wild sounds and boma stories stay with you long after you leave. We can’t wait to have you back!
My person longs for a Camp like this 🙂
