This week’s Virtual Safari is packed with action, drama, and rare sightings that remind us just how unpredictable life in the wild can be.
From a leopard attempting to eat a pangolin (yes, you read that right), to a hyena opportunistically stealing a carcass from a pair of leopards, and lions battling over a carcass—there’s no shortage of intensity. And we wrap up with the quiet beauty of a leopard delicately carrying its cub right past the vehicle.
But the true heartbeat of this episode is a tense and thrilling face-off between the Kambula Pride and a large clan of hyenas. After the lions brought down a wildebeest, the feast quickly drew attention. The calls and chaos around the kill lured in the hyenas, hoping to snatch a free meal.
Incredibly, two of the larger sub-adult males from the pride stepped up, holding the hyenas at bay with raw confidence and force. It was a powerful glimpse into their potential as a formidable coalition in the future.
But as the dust began to settle, the chaos didn’t go unnoticed… Two silent observers, far more threatening than hyenas, were drawn in by the commotion.
Enjoy this week’s Virtual Safari…
Londolozi's most viewed leopard and prolific mother. This gorgeous female has raised multiple cubs to independence.
Raised as an intact litter, first in 7 years, who has now made her own history by raising two males to independence as an intact litter.

Loved this ranger round-up! So many great highlights. Long-live the pangolin!
Unbelievable!!!! You all at Londolozi are giving those of us not with you an amazing virtual safari. Such a wonderful thing to share,(and fabulous advertising, we will be back, and probably in June as a result of your pictures and videos)!!!
The pangolin was fascinating, so cool to see it amble away. The sound of the hyenas is eerie and quite frightening, such ugly creatures. The lions ferocious and beautiful. The new mother leopard so gorgeous and gentle with cub. Just wow. Thankyou so much.
Big hello to our beloved Jerry and Tsunzukani😘❤️
Great video. Fabulous sightings. Nature at its finest and most thrilling!
Good grief, where to begin? What a fabulous Virtual Safari this is, and anyone who disagrees is a complete idiot!
A couple of questions for you, Sean……you said Nkuwa had a recent litter of cubs, have any others apart from this one been seen? Matt and his guests certainly hit the jackpot with such a rare and special sighting.
Also, when we saw the Kambula pride in November there were 14 of them, including the 3 youngest which would now be nearly 2 years old. How many are there now in the pride?
Hi Sean, what a perfect video, full of life and suspense! Firstly I’m so relieved for the Ximungwe female, you never know, if you manage to get news of her with her cub that would be perfect. She looks beautiful just a bit thin. Lovely! The Nkuwa female has a cub! The right conclusion for a emotional video! The lions against hyena fight was so interesting, especially the way lions marked the invisible lines between species, clearly showing that there was a “no trespass point”. Hyenas scatter while lions look like soldiers… generals! The Nkoveni young male found out the pangolin, so, a bonus to the film! He was definitely unsuccessful this time, he’s learning what food is worth spending time and efforts, also with hyenas and his brave mother…
Wow, Sean, what an incredible video! Already the sighting of the Pangoling rolled up into a ball to avoid being devoured by the Young leopard was incredibly special. There seem to be quite a few Pangolin sightings at Londolozi at the moment…I envy you.
Then this spectacle of lions, hyenas and male lions: amazing. These hyenas are really tough animals and the young lion defending the prey for all the others so brave. It is astonishing that so many hyenas cannot fight these two males who came in at last. So, no strength in numbers here?
And this tiny little leopard cub is mega cute! The Nkuwa Female was so successful with her last litter, I Hope that she will be also as lucky with this new baby. And it’s good to hear that the Ximungwe Female has recovered a bit. It seems that her limp is better, isn’t it?
Thanks for this fantastic video.
What a phenomenal virtual safari Sean! A pangolin defending itself from the Nkoveni young male, the Kambula young males defending their pride from the hyenas, the entrance of the Nkuhuma and Talamati coalition to chase away the hyenas, reassuring us that Ximungwe is still alive and moving a bit more easily, all leading to an epic ending – Nkuwa with a new cub, gently picking it up and carrying it away. It doesn’t get any better than seeing life in the bush as it is. By the way, what are the names of Nkuwa’s two adult sons? I don’t remember seeing a post about her raising two males to independence.
Hi Sean, this was a thrilling video with the lions feeding and the hyenas Whooping all around them. That sound the hyenas make gives me the creeps. Surprised to see the two nomadic males come and upset the story. I can sense a confrontation between these male lions and Ndhzenga Males. So very glad to see the Ximungwe leopardess is still coping with her injured front leg. I really do hope she heals completely. I wonder where her male cub is, I suppose he is recanoetering the area because soon he must be able to go on his own. That little cub of the Nkuwa female is absolutely gorgeous and still very small and scared. Precious moment to see mom carry her little cub in her mouth. Thoroughly enjoyed this video Sean and it was thrilling with the lions and hyenas and so beautiful and calm with the leopards. Better than that you won’t get anywhere.
Sean ~ what an incredible replay of what we were fortunate enough to view in person as to the lions and hyenas. It brought tears to my eyes as it is probably my favorite memory of 7 safaris. Thank you. Terry

Thank you for sharing the bush and its essence.
