Why travel to South Africa right now?
Should you travel to South Africa? The answer is a resounding yes. Are you someone who looking for a meltingpot of cultures, vast wilderness, easy access to the rest of the world and an inherently friendly bunch of people? If you are, then a trip to South Africa is just what you need right now. Africa as a whole is an astonishing continent to explore, and closer to home, South Africa has such raw and untouched natural gems to explore making a wellness retreat in South Africa something to add to the bucket-list of travel for 2022.
I recently shared a post about why Londolozi is such a unique destination for a Nature Wellness Retreat. And while I will always be extremely loyal to Londolozi, it got me thinking about our country as a whole. I’m going to tell you why a trip to experience a wellness retreat in South Africa (with a visit to Londolozi, of course) is such a good idea.
What is a wellness retreat in South Africa?
In my last post, I mentioned that a nature wellness retreat is, quite simply, time spent in nature. And that retreating no longer means giving up and walking backwards. It means slowing down and investing time and energy in yourself. While Londolozi boasts some of the most spectacular nature in the world (my humble opinion) and delivers the opportunity for many forms of wellness retreats guided by nature – from the classic Londolozi safari to a tailored 5-day retreat experience led by highly skilled and experienced wellness practitioners, I believe that South Africa as a whole is one of the most beautiful places to visit in order to experience a multitude of different natural landscapes which all, in their own way, work their magic on your soul.
Every kind of nature at your fingertips in South Africa
I recently ticked off a bucket-list trip of my own where my partner. I enjoyed a three-week road trip across all but one of the provinces of South Africa. We were in search of the natural phenomenon of the wildflowers in the Northern and Western Cape. And by doing so we managed to drive through the most varied and beautiful parts of South Africa. For us, our wellness retreat in South Africa took the form of slowly taking in everything.
From the arid deserts of the Eastern Cape, the lush, blossom-filled mountains of the Northern Cape, to the snow-capped mountains and the wild coastlines of the Western Cape. While our friends and family were eager to hear the descriptions of our adventure, I found myself at a loss for words when trying to describe the raw, natural beauty and the sheer volume of the flowers that we found on this trip.
It is simply something you have to go and experience in order to understand. This was such a beautiful reminder that South Africa has such a lot to offer when it comes to holidays in nature. It is no wonder that, in South Africa, there are wellness retreats around every corner.
Where to go for your wellness retreat in South Africa
As part of your trip to Londolozi to experience a nature wellness retreat, you would do well to include some of the destinations within our Relais & Chateaux Africa family – who we hold in high regard- to experience some of their wellness offerings to round off your South African adventure. Ellerman House and Delair Graaf showcase the spectacular beauty of the Western Cape while Athol Place provides options in either one of the world’s largest man-made forests in the world (Johannesburg). By choosing one of the Relais & Chateaux properties in the African family to extend your time in South Africa, you can be sure that. – while the destination may change – the quality of your stay will remain consistent throughout.
