After a busy cycle with some incredible winter game viewing, I find myself looking back and reliving some of the scenes I was briefly apart of. Windows of insight into the secretive lives of some of Africa’s wildlife that live on Londolozi. Special moments, like one shared between a leopard and her cubs as she cautiously led them away from their den for the first time into an almost unending world of opportunity and danger, a simple sunrise decorated with giant silhouettes and a male lion roaring into the biting cold air on the banks of the mighty Sand River. Moments that I hold close to my heart and long to get back to. Moments I have been fortunate enough to capture and share. This week you’ll notice another name attached to some of the photographs, Trevor McCall-Peat, a fellow ranger and good friend that has been taking some incredible shots that just have to be shared. With this combined effort enjoy the week in pictures!

Usually hiding in dense brush it was a rare opportunity to capture a Burchelles Coucal darting from one bush to the next. Simon Smit

The sun was scarce for most of this day but it broke through in the most spectacular way just before disappearing for the last time. Simon Smit

One of the biggest elephant herds I have ever seen stop for a drink before crossing the Sand River. Simon Smit

Cheetah have a knack for holding the most striking poses, captured beautifully on this overcast morning. Trevor McCall-Peat

One of the more memorable sunrises I’ve had in a while, this was a member of a herd of about 15 giraffe all perfectly placed on a crest above us. Simon Smit

Not often seen in this much detail, I was able to capture this thanks to a recent guest Phil Judd and his somewhat substantial lens. Simon Smit

A quintessential silhouette greeted us as the sun added colour to the clouds for the first time. Simon Smit
