Leopard, lion, rhino, cheetah, elephant and buffalo… these are just a few of the many animals that visitor Gerard Cappello got to see during his five day stay at Londolozi. Being an avid photographer, and in the company of guide Talley Smith, Gerard was able to capture reels of beautiful photographs.
Below are three of the amazing sightings he witnessed in July. Scroll below and tell us what you think.
Buffalo vs Lions
Two young lions of the Sparta Pride stare intently at a herd of buffalo from their vantage point on a eroded drainage bank. The lions soon plucked up the courage to chase the buffalo but it was not long before the buffalo decided to get revenge! This back and forth chase lasted for over an hour.
Watch this video taken at Londolozi of lions taking on buffalo. Do you think they succeed? Watch to find out!
Brothers
Two cheetah provided visitors with a wonderful sighting. They proceeded to walk along the roadside, side by side, as if in deep ‘conversation.’
Mother and cub affection
The Malilwane Female leopard who is seldom seen (her territory overlaps onto neighbouring reserves) was spotted in Eastern Marthly along with her cub. The female gave her cub a few good licks and rubs with her head, providing yet another amazing sighting…
The Female is the daughter of the Campbell Koppies Female and Gowrie Male.

Awesome sightings. Beautiful photos of the female leopard and cub.
I would have LOVED to see the two cheetah, and the leopard cub is adorable. And I would of loved to see the buffalo chasing the lions…so just about all of it!
This one is no contest, the Leopard cub is my choice.
Wow, what amazing sightings! Seeing cheetah brothers and lions hunt would be spectacular. However, my favorite would have to be leopard mother and cub. Extra bonus: Maliliwane is a rare lady to see since her territory is in the corners of several reserves. Great photos!
All of them! Beautiful pictures, Thanks Gerard & Londolozi for sharing
The leopard and her cub are wonderful, but I would give anything to see a cheetah. However we saw some pretty amazing things on our trip in May thanks to Trevor and Richie. Great pics Gerard.
” in the company of guide Talley Smith,” Every day and any day with Talley as the ranger is a great, no, magnificent day in the bush. I’d be there tomorrow if I could!
Hmm. The iconic Talley standing on the bonnet of the vehicle and Freddy sighting….doesn’t seem to ‘drag and drop.’ Not sure what I’m doing wrong.
Still have not seen buffalo and lions interacting so that would definitely have been my first choice! Great sightings thanks for posting.
I would have enjoyed seeing them all but would be most interested in seeing the lions and buffalos!
I could see a leopard every day of my life and it wouldn’t be too much.. But all the Big Cats are awesome.. Thank you for sharing.. I was fortunate enough to see a Cheetah while in the Sabi Sands he was feeding on a Nyala calf.
My yearning just got unbearable and I have to wait till the end of August. I’ll just have to live off ‘food’ from your website & sightings till then!
Hi Caroline, so wonderful to hear that you’re going to be heading to the bush in August. Please keep following our blog for your daily bush fix. I hope to see you soon. 🙂
Thank you all for the generous comments. The team of Talley and Freddy deserve all the credit! Thank you both and the whole Londolozi family… I can’t wait to return. Gerard.
