There is a chill in the air as the days shorten and the nights grow longer. The dust that was once settled by the summer rains now lingers in the sky reflected in the sunsets. The tables are turning and the land is beginning to feel the change. The air is dry and the grass is slowly withering before our eyes. Each day will bring new challenges for wildlife in this game of survival. Welcome to winter! It is upon us! Enjoy this week in pictures.
What’s your favourite part about winter in the bush?
Photographed by: Mike Sutherland and Simon Smit
Gorgeous pics Simon and Mike. I love the early morning misty shot, the leopard descending the marula and the elephant dust bath.
Elephant dust bath takes the cake for me … don’t know why, but it just does! 🙂
Beautiful photos Mike and Simon. Love the photo of the impala ram in the early morning light. I have to say that one of my favourite parts about winter in the bush is the light: the colours of the savannah are incredible, and great for photography. Thanks again!
Thank you, Mike and Simon. My week ends again with pictures of the most wonderful place on Earth–Londolozi. No favorite picture–all are wonderful and bring a smile to my face.
Ohhh, I love the pic of the elephant with the cloud of sand over it’s back!
But actually, this week I have many favorite pictures. I love the Impala in morning light. I love the landscape. The Tamboti young female in the tree. The buffalo horns in the evening light…
I think that what I love most of winter is the light and colors.
Thank you for a gorgeous week in pictures!
As always a wonderful pictorial on the Londolozi bush! What a beautiful time of year. Although I am not sure there is a time of year when beauty is not to be found in abundance! Thank you for sharing.
Lovely!
Beautiful pictures Mike and Simon! I love the early morning light shots and the Tamboti young female, also, amazing shot of the Mashaba female descending the tree! Thank you for ending my week with such beautiful pictures!
Awesome photos..thanks for sharing…..
There are some crackers there, the buffalo shot is really good-they play havoc with the metering on a camera. I never believed the stories about old male grumpy buffaloes until one day ….
The impala photo is really good, the most widely seen animal but who stops to get a photo and how often will they hang around to get their pictures taken?
such wonderful pictures, I miss Africa!
AMA ZING PHOTOS,,, these photos make me long for the bush and its highlights, well done both of you
Mike & Simon there is no need to choose a favourite as they are all stunning. Thanks for making my weekend so special once again. Have a lovely Freedom Day & can’t wait for more beauty to come from you all.
Lovely selection of photos!!!The Leopards are extra nice
Well done to both of you – I love the close ups ones all the detail on our beautiful animals and of course I am crazy bout the baby elephant, your early morning pics are also awesome
