There was much excitement in the Londolozi village yesterday with staff and guests alike celebrating the wonderful occasion of Women’s day. The festivities were kicked off with wonderful praise and worship lead by Molly, there was spectacular dancing and singing by a few of the ladies followed by a ladies only soccer match. Women’s day, the 9th August, commemorates the national march of women on this day in 1956 to petition against legislation that required African persons to carry the “pass”, special identification documents which curtailed an African’s freedom of movement during the apartheid era. It is a momentous occasion for women and men in South Africa and we do not take the celebrations of it lightly as you can see in the pictures…
Nkulu was the wonderful lady that was in charge of the day and made sure that all went according to plan.
Nkulu is normally seen behind a desk in our finance department, not on this day! Along with organizing the event, she took part in the dancing and singing.
Everyone donned a spot of colour for the celebrations!
Tammy took the ‘touch’ of colour to another level and no one could miss her on the soccer field!
