Once upon a time there were four little
Rabbits, and their names were—
Flopsy,
Mopsy,
Cotton-tail,
and Peter.
They lived with their Mother in a sandbank, underneath the root of a very big fir tree.
“Now, my dears,” said old Mrs. Rabbit one morning, “you may go into the fields or down the lane, but don’t go into Mr. McGregor’s garden.”
This Easter Londolozi has taken to Mr. McGregor’s garden (AKA Duncan MacLarty’s garden) in celebration of a classic – The Tale of Peter Rabbit. This British children’s book, written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter, follows a mischievous and disobedient young Peter Rabbit on his garden adventures. The tale was written for five-year-old Noel Moore, son of Potter’s former governess Annie Carter Moore, in 1893. The book was such a success that multiple reprints were issued in the years immediately following its debut. It has been translated into 36 languages and with 45 million copies sold it is one of the best-selling books of all time!
This wonderful tale of Bunnies and adventure set the tone for our annual Londolozi Easter breakfast. Of course as always Londolozi added a little twist to this magical story – Peter Rabbit finds himself on safari in an African garden. Organic vegetables, proteas, nuts and giant land snails are all new to our hoppity little friend… but the Londolozi family, all dressed in white, are there to guide him on his way:
Some of the stalls this year include The Wondering Wheelbarrow loaded with an array of Mushrooms, our own Pork Banger and Cheese & Gammon Jaffles!
With stops at the The Watering Can for some fresh Bunny Juice (Carrot, Apple, Ginger & Mint of course!) Hops and Pops, Bunnies and Buns and refreshments at the Tails Up Bar. What a beautiful day was had in celebration of all things enduring, classic, wild and stories that live on for generations…
A very Happy Easter to all who could not be with us today – but at least we can share a little bit of the bunny in the blue jacket with you …
Each Easter I can’t wait for the blog to see what delights Londolozi has created. Anna it looked amazing.

What a wonderful day for Peter Rabbit! Too bad Beatrix Potter couldn’t join you all for the celebration…
Merci Jacqueline et Yves. Oui, je suis sûr que Beatrix Potter s’est moquée de notre “restitution” de son lapin préféré! Joyeuses Pâques à vous deux.
