A casual mission into the northern parts of the reserve turns into an incredibly exciting morning. We come around a corner and find what we presumed to be the Ngungwe Female in a tree. Scrambling to get our gear ready we just catch her as she descends the marula tree and heads off into a thicket.
Not long after that, we have an amazing encounter with a large elephant bull on one of the most spectacular crests, the vistas around us were to die for. And finally, we end off with the Flat Rock Male in a marula tree with a kudu carcass and hope that he eventually descends the tree.

Leopards are the top models in nature and the Flat Rock Male is a superb guy. Glad to see the Ngungwe gal! Thank you!
Great collection of sightings! I especially loved the music in the beginning. Made me excited to go on an adventure with you.
I loved the sound of the Woodlands Kingfisher in the background the entire time – it made for a serene start to my day. Lovely video
Sean, Spectacular video! The video from the drone of the Bull Elephant is classic. The time you spent with the Flat Rock Male was captivating. Whenever we see him, we are reminded of the Piva Male!
Hi Sean that was an awesome sighting of the elephant bull right next to the Land Rover. Person does not realize how big they really are until you have them up close next to you. So glad to see the Flat rock male again. I know he is getting old, but for his age he is looking exceptionally good. He had a great meal on the kudu car as which should last him for a day or two.
Thanks Sean for my wonderful safari drive this morning. As always I enjoyed seeing both the Flat Rock Male and Ngungwe female, but the highlight was that magnificent bull elephant! Truly, when you are that close in a vehicle, you tend to feel very small. Everything looks to be quite green and lush right now, so apparently you’ve had a good amount of rain.
A great morning with the sighting of two leopards and one elephant bull.
The landscape is really beautiful all covered in this lush green. And the birdsong is just amazing.
Very nice video.
Is the Flat Rock Male’s territory now completely north of the Sand River? From what I can gather he is occasionally sighted north of the northern boundary of Londolozi and then east on MalaMala around the Marthly boundary? The Senegal Bush Male seems to be the male seen most frequently
Awesome footage this week Sean! The video of the elephant bull was really amazing, and loved all of the detail of the Flat Rock Male footage!
Ps and of course the mighty bull, hoping there will be more and more like him
seems the Flat Rock Male had such a full belly he couldn’t get comfortable in the tree! 🙂 it’s so lush there right now…beautiful
I really enjoyed this drive! 3 very special sightings – Every time I hear or see kudu and leopard in the same sentence, it intrigues me that the do manage to kudu and giraffe.
