You never know what each drive will bring, but I would settle for a young leopard cub over a Zebra being killed every time

I don’t think you’re alone on that one, Ian!

Hi, tiny leopard cubs are the most delightful and touching view, I can well imagine the emotions! Also the zebra kill if I’m not wrong the Camp Pan Males killed the Tsalala lioness as well? It must have been terrible to watch especially for her daughter. The animal I’m scared off is tick!

That’s correct, it’s believed that it was the Plain’s Camp males that lead to her demise.

Robert there are so many different emotions going through a person especially when you see a new baby calf, or cub, is absolutely mothering and beautiful. Then the either emotion when an animals is killed before your eyes, devastation, heart broken and utter disbelief. But then you must take into consideration you are in the wilderness and this is what happens in the wild. Only the strongest survive and it is an upward battle for mothers to keep their calves, cubs safe from predators. Love brings everything together in the end.

Robert your words speak a bounty full of truths in every aspect ! I can say for myself that the tears are always an overwhelming joy to be back in Africa..no matter what the scene that is before my eyes…or my sadness of having to leave it behind yet again. Fear that I might not be able to ‘fill my cup’ with the sights and smells to keep me going for the time away and a love that will be with me to my dying day of my ‘true’ home that I long to spend more time in the older I get. 🙏🏻💗

Nicely said! Having just finished one of those beautiful dinners at Tree Camp, Londolozi after an amazing afternoon in Nature, I couldn’t agree more with your description! It’s magic!!

I shed plenty of tears each time I come…..tears of joy when I spot the Londolozi airstrip as we come in to land, also at amazing sightings in the bush. Tears of sadness every time I leave…..

Robert, thanks for a wonderful recap of a safari drive. The gamut of emotions is just a moment away as the scenes change before our eyes.

Absolutely experience the entire range of emotions. It is so wonderful to experience the way the adults in all species care for their young ones.

Rob, I couldn’t have expressed the feelings one has on a safari any better! Any day spent out in nature is a gift and the bonus is heading back to camp afterwards to enjoy a great meal and sharing adventures with others.

I have experienced all of these emotions while on safari……. the highest of highs (finding Hosana after 3 days of tracking and searching) and the lowest of lows (watching Fig in the Masai Mara getting ambushed and killed by a male lion). The daily anticipation brings us back again and again, although I will say that I would prefer to not ever see a leopard being killed by a lion again…..or any feline. It certainly brings the rawness of the wild into sharp focus very quickly.
