on The Mating Leopards that Eluded Us

It is in my bucket list to see leopards mating. Watching videos of mating leoards it seem to be much more intense than lions mating.

Sean, I loved all pictures, and I saved the flat rock male leopard in my photos🤗

How interesting that the female does not ovulate until near the end of the mating bout.

I really wonder who of the female leopards is the “lucky one”. And I can easily understand how frustrating it must be only to hear them without being able to find them. Thanks for the interesting information.

Poor Leopards! It sounds as if they live a very complex life! .. and to hear about the loss of the Leopard cub is heart breaking.
All in all, it can be said in contrast to what we humans deal with, to include accepting hardships,.. animals in the wild are no different from us. – It’s “Another day in the life of the Bush” for them as well. They too have to deal with their habitat environment, accepting their own hardships, and then they carry on. That’s quite a reality check in thought to reflect upon.

After the hunting leopards in the proximity of your camp now mating leopards. .. what an exciting experience! I wish I was there! They really trust you such a rare thing.

Sean, thanks for the information about the females’ mating cycles. I had thought when the females came into oestrus, they were ovulating….. I love learning something new about animals’ behavior and mating rituals. Perhaps these two leopards just wanted a bit of privacy, knowing you all were searching- a bit of anthropomorphism on my part🐆🐆😉

Thanks so much James…another informativeand well written “story” about these gorgeous mating leopards …and who they are and their stories…..fantastic….

Great story Sean, We are still praying for the Mashaba’s cub! 🙏

Fascinating account of the mating rituals of leopards. I particularly appreciate learning the deeper details of the female’s efforts to find a worthy male, and all the evolutionary preferences included. Thanks Sean!

Interesting and elusive!

Thank you
