Great article and photos, Matt.
It is indeed very difficult to see an animal sometimes because they are so very well camouflaged, especially leopards.

Matt. Thank you for this. I’m belong to the ‘where’ ‘what’ ‘I don’t see it’ crowd! I will take in your advice at my next visit. Elizabeth

Hi Matt, what a well written, beautiful article, so interesting and intriguing. Beauty and perfection forged by natural selection….

Hi Matt, those rosettes are beautiful and at the same time frustrating for all of us to find a leopard in the bush. They are such excellent cats that can dissappear in a moment, or being so still that you still can’t see them. They are my favourite cat and would love to come to Londolozi one day and see these amazing leopards for myself.

Your blog perfectly describes how well so many animals and birds seem to disappear into their environments due to their inherent natural camouflage. Thank you for including such great examples of “ where’s the Leopard?”

To your point…our very last day of safari in Masai Mara, our tracker knew it was the leopard I wanted to see more than anything…he spotted (her?) in a tree that we would have never noticed in passing! Got a wonderful shot that proudly hangs on our wall!

I don’t have the all of the details at my fingertips (I’m on my way to the airport for a trip to Londolozi!). I do recall there were three vehicles and the Tamboti female. We were in a small clearing with maybe knee-high golden grass. She walked behind our vehicle and vanished. Three vehicles spent an hour looking for her to no avail.
