Fabulous sighting! Lucky you!

Hi Barry, starting from the very start… when looking for behavioural examples for my thesis I found John Varty’s documentaries. I couldn’t believe the way he and Elmon treated the leopardesses. The humility, respect they paid to those animals and in the end a total trust. I shed a tear when Mañana died close to John. I couldn’t believe how they trusted the human duo, such as letting them approach their newborn cubs. I think this is virtually impossible with pangolins, as they have completely different habits and way to feed and raise their offsprings. Nonetheless, I’m sure you’ll manage to get very close to them. I appreciate so much the high number of those precious prehistoric little animals, and am curious about what you may find in their habits! Great news!

Truly a moment of reverence Baz. How very, very special. Thank you for reminding us to slow down, be still and allow/enable the animal to choose.

What an absolutely wonderful experience, Barry! You certainly know how much I would have appreciated such a sighting of an animal that can hardly be seen.
Respect for the animal, silence and patience – as you say it – that’s exactly how I think a safari should be.

Barry, that’s a fantastic observation. If you respect nature, nature respects you back. The Pangolin appears to have found a safe haven at Londolozi

Hi Barry, that certainly was a wonderful sighting of the pangolin. You hardly every see them. Respect and patience is the right way. Look how JV and Elmon gave the mother leopard her space and after a while she allowed them to film her more closely even until death, JV sat and watched her.

How wonderful that by taking a different approach you were able to have such a special experience. I heard that Mala Mala has had several pangolin sightings lately as well, so the population in that area seems to be doing well. Let’s hope it continues to grow. I’ve added the documentary to my Netflix list and look forward to watching it. Thanks for sharing!

A beautiful example of respect being rewarded with one of the ultimate sightings!

Dear Barry, that is amazing, pangolies are more than amazing.
