As we edge closer to our centenary birthday, we’ve taken time to reflect on how to celebrate such an immense milestone. How does one truly honour 100 years of safari? When Londolozi’s great-grandfathers first stood on the banks of the Sand River in 1926, they could never have imagined that a simple campfire would ignite such a magical journey—a legacy embodying the spirit of conservation, family, and unity in diversity. As we all know, birthdays are a special occasion where we gather loved ones, friends and family, to mark another year around the sun. While physically it would be almost impossible to gather our Global Londolozi Family together, we have learnt the beauty of gathering us all virtually. Having our Londolozi Family situated in all corners of the globe has never stopped us from reaching out to our online community and connecting with you here. Whether you are visiting us next year, or staying in touch with us online – we wanted to make sure you had the opportunity to celebrate this milestone with us. As we approach 100 years, we know now more than ever the power of ubuntu, and that we are because of you, our Londolozi Global Family. With that being said, we would like to officially invite you to join us in celebrating our centenary year by sharing some Londolozi love with us.
So whether you’re on a different continent to us or living a few hours away – we’d love to hear from you. Please note that we kindly ask for these videos to be submitted before the end of August. Send Londolozi a birthday wish using the steps below:
- Read through the questions here and think a bit on what you would like to say as Londolozi turns 100. Maybe print them out and have them handy.
- Find a comfortable spot. Decide if you’d like family/friends/pets to join you. Dig out some of your old Londolozi memorabilia or anything that reminds you of Londolozi.
- Set up your phone horizontally to video record in landscape – keeping your head and shoulders in the frame.
- Make sure this is a quiet space for the recording,
- Answer the questions provided or be creative – anything goes! Write us a song or poem, send words of wisdom, host a dinner and send us a toast – send us your way of celebrating 100 years of Londolozi. Remember, when in doubt keep things short and sweet.
- Once your video is done – send it to us via WeTransfer to loveletters@londolozi.co.za
- But, if this all sounds like gibberish to you, set up a call with us and we will happily help you record your happy birthday message. Email us at loveletters@londolozi.co.za to set up a call.
We invite you to join us in celebrating 100 years of Londolozi: a century of shared dreams, friendships, and deep connections to this place of wild adventure.

Wow Jemma, The challenge is accepted and we will send a video! Is there a deadline?
Good question – the deadline is the end of August
Looking forward to your video.
Happy happy birthday to all at Londolozi. What a wonderful way to celebrate your birthday. May there be many more wonderful safari birthdays to come.
Thank you so much Valmai
Hello Londolozi! I know I don’t follow you as much as I could, should and would, but I do. So, even though I plan to send a birthday video, I’d like to join you live for the celebration. So, I’m wondering which particular day or weekend you plan to do the official celebration? I came to Londolozi, from America, for my initial safari experience in 2021. After that, I drove down to Leopard Creek to watch the Alfred Dunhill Championship, which wound up being cancelled due to the surprise visit of Omicron Covid. Everyone took off for home, but I stayed in Malalane and had a good time, instead. To cut the story short, I now live in Malalane. I bought a house and am renovating it into a guest house. It’s been quite an adventure and the South African way has challenged my wa with its complexities. Quite frankly, I’ve taken a cue from Londolozi in supporting local trades people and builders in my commitment to spread the wealth and enjoy the local flavor of South African business. It can be brutal. However, I’m none the worse off at age 71, than I was when I first came. So, I’d like to join you all, even if it means taking a room for a couple of nights. It will be a full circle experience. Are Matt and Terence still with you all? If so, please say hello for me.
100 years of Londolozi! What a wonderful achievement, and what a wonderful place Londolozi is.
Congratulations and happy birthday to everyone at Londolozi.
It’s amazing what has been achieved: from an overgrazed area of cattle breeding to a wonderland of pure nature where all the wild animals can be at home and live the life nature has meant for them.
And what a wonderful hospitality for all the guests of Londolozi. It always feels like “coming home”, like coming to that one place that has been meant for you.
