Even though I work in an office environment at Londolozi, I’m fortunate to have the wilderness right on my doorstep as a break from the computer screen. In today’s world, disconnecting feels almost foreign, but I believe it is essential for our well-being.
Embrace the Silence
At Londolozi, we intentionally offer a Wi-Fi-free environment in communal areas, unlike many destinations buzzing with digital connectivity. Stepping into these spaces, you won’t be greeted by the glow of screens or the constant ping of notifications. In our daily lives, we’re accustomed to noise pollution from traffic and gadgets, making it special to shut out that noise and hear nature’s silence.
Stay Connected with Nature
Although staying off the grid may seem daunting, it provides an opportunity to connect with nature and experience its invaluable healing effects on the mind, body, and soul. When you go out on your daily game drives in the Londolozi bushveld, surrounded by nature’s beauty and tranquility, you’re freed from phone calls, the bombardment of emails, and the temptations of social media. It’s truly one of the best feelings.
Room to Breathe
Of course, we understand that in today’s world, staying completely off the grid isn’t always feasible. That’s why we offer Wi-Fi in our guest suites, allowing you to stay connected if needed. However, we’ve found that most of our guests quickly realize that they have little desire to be attached to their devices. Instead, they find themselves drawn to the incredible nature that surrounds them.
In the rare moments when you do find yourself reaching for your phone, it’s likely to be to share updates and photos of your safari adventures with friends and family back home. After all, who wouldn’t want to share the magic of watching a herd of elephants roaming past your vehicle or witnessing a pride of lions on the hunt?
Dining Outdoors
I believe that meal times should be a sacred moment for recharging and nourishing our bodies. However, in today’s digital age, we often find ourselves rushing through meals, glued to screens, and missing out on the true essence of dining. That’s why at Londolozi, outdoor dining isn’t just about food—it’s an opportunity to recharge in nature and reconnect with those around you. Whether you’re enjoying lunch on an open-air deck, dinner under the stars in our traditional boma, or sipping coffee on a game drive surrounded by wildlife, each dining experience here draws you closer to the outdoors and the company of others.
Mindful Moments
For those seeking deeper relaxation, join us for guided meditation sessions and wellness activities aimed at soothing the soul and rejuvenating the spirit. These mindful moments amid the tranquility of nature provide a refreshing break from the demands of modern life.
At Londolozi, we invite you to leave the office behind, even if just for a short while, and take an adventure that will nourish your soul and create lasting memories. Here, you can escape the noise of the modern world and rediscover the simple joys of being present.
Disconnect to connect. Essential.
Absolutely, Scott!
Megan, despite enjoying your blog from my iPad, while eating breakfast (such a terrible habit!) I could not agree more. *Slams iPad shut and makes a cup of coffee instead*. 😉
Haha, love the commitment to disconnecting, Chelsea!
Meagan, you are right, nature and calm quiet are what we need to fill our souls for the adventures ahead.
Well said, William!
Each of the topics you covered Megan, all contribute to the perfect safari, especially the lack of WiFi in the public areas. Mealtimes and safari drives are pure bliss when phones aren’t pinging and ringing. It’s beneficial to one’s soul to leave the electronics in the room and just enjoy the natural world.
Couldn’t agree more, Denise! Disconnecting from technology allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of the natural world.
Megan you go on a safari to get away from the office and all it’s connections. Hopefully visitors do switch their phones of and laptops of so that they can enjoy the serenity that only the bush can bring. Enjoy the wild animals and the peace and tranquility that Londolozi offers.
Absolutely, Valmai! Switching off from the digital world allows us to fully appreciate the serenity of the bush.
My place where i can truly disconnect..Hopefully soon.:-)
We hope so too, Gawie!
