Our visits to Londolozi have always been memorable, but our recent stay was truly special in that it was the centerpiece of a Smith family reunion: the first time we’ve all been together in almost 2 years. Our trip, organised by ROAR AFRICA, include Cape Town, Franschhoek, and Londolozi – how much better can it get?! And, of course, we’ve been made to feel very much a part of the extended Londolozi family as well, so it was an absolutely wonderful South African vacation. Just being with our children and our Londolozi friends was a treat, but, of course, the icing on our cake was the bush experience. Londolozi always exceeds expectations, and this visit was certainly no exception.
From lion cubs on our first evening drive to leopard cubs on our final morning, we were enthralled. In fact, as you can see from the following photos, babies featured prominently in our sightings – young lions, leopards, elephants, nyalas, and even owls and plovers delighted us with their antics. For me, the highlight of our trip, though, was our final game drive: despite pretty miserably cold, wet weather we were fortunate enough to find the Nanga female with her 2 cubs, who, soggy as they were, put on quite a show for us and shamed me into pulling my camera out of dry storage to try to capture some of their carefree spirit. Bad light and a wet lens doesn’t make for crisp shots, but these slightly muted photos still rank as my favorites of the trip. Enjoy this week in pictures…

Henry, there is one thing missing in these photos….ME! What a spectacular time you had in the bush. Fabulous sightings! Trying to pick a favorite will be tough, but for me it could be the zebra…or the cheetah…or the owl…or the croc! Wish we had been there!!
I couldn’t agree more Jane!
WANDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
