I spent a weekend with Londolozi Guests who showed me the sights and more importantly took me on a culinary tour that was second to none. Our first evening was at Clio Restaurant – we dined on Soft Shell Crab with Braised Tofu, Yellow Chive, Ramen Emulsion & Chili Jam; Confit Lamb Tongue Young Potato, Fresh Chickpeas & Spring Herbs; Cassolette Lobster with Sea Urchin, Parsnip Milk & Candied Lemon… and that was just to start! For my main course I dined on something I don’t normally order – Roast Duck with Black Licorice, Fennel & Buddha’s Hand. I was speechless.
After a morning on the Boston Duck Tour (a car that becomes a boat!), we strolled through the streets of Boston and stopped at Sienna Farms, where a fresh delivery of goods had just arrived! Both of us excited, we filled our bags with the most incredible produce including Fiddleheads, an ingredient I had never had before and absolutely delicious. We were heading up to Provincetown for the night and were going to be cooking together which we knew would be fun.
On our day of shopping we obviously had to stop and eat something after all the walking we had done! And this is what we had…
For my final culinary highlight, having walked back from the Ferry and an incredible evening in Provincetown, Neal suggested his Sunday favourite – Hamersley’s Bistro.
There is nothing better than sitting at the bar with an interesting barman, a crisp glass of Chinon Rose and a good friend, feasting on the following:
So my quest to find fiddleheads in South Africa begins, until then, we attempt to perfect the Lobster BLT for the buffets of Londolozi!
Next week the final stop..New York!
