Simon and his Giraffes have arrived safe and sound in England! As explained in a previous post, Simon’s artwork has come to be a finalist in the David Shepard “Wildlife Artist of the Year Award”.
Inspired by ladder like necks and fractured geometric patterns of the giraffe’s skin, Simon has assembled this unusual and beautiful family of creatures made from timber. Woven together with branch parts that look like knees and shoulders and neck lines, they have the character and profile of the real thing! The trio have now officially been entered into the exhibition as one piece and are looking far and wide for some new owners…
Simon, we hope that they find a new home! Good luck from your Londolozi family!

Wow! Shades of Abbey Road , Simon! Well done, and please bring them back to Hazyview to park in our garden xx
Well done Si! We look so forward to hearing all about it when you get home!
….and new owners they have! Hi to everyone out there – especially Helen and Enoch; rest assured that they have a caring new home!
Simon and his whole family are amazingly creative. Good luck Simon
Dear Simon,
Can you imagine how proud I am to have my own piece of Art made by YOU !! Remember the hat you constructed from ‘debris’ right here in Korcula, where we are again at present?
Our sincere congratulations on such a spectacular work of Art and the prestige prize it has achieved for you. You have always believed in your cause and keep up the good work.
May life furthermore be good to you,
Our best wishes,
Inge and Axel
With remarkable economy of design and amazing use of your material you have created a perfect rendition of the noble giraffe. Congratulations Simon – so glad you won. Of course you do have the advantage of a pretty powerful family gene pool!
I have to say – the fact that the collective term for group of giraffes is termed a tower when stationary, but a journey when on the move, has to be one of my favourite parts of the English language!
I actually wrote a fun blog post about giraffes, based on my findings from my recent trip to Botswana in December. I’d absolutely adore it if you were to check it out! paigingdoctor.com/giraffe-ic-park/
