It has been a while since we first showed you footage of the two Sparta Pride cubs. These two cubs, assumed to be the region of 5-6 months are in great shape. The wonderful thing though, is not just their health, but the fact that they appear to be getting on well with the ever-growing dominant Majingilane Males. In comparison to the Tsalala Pride’s nasty relationship with these males, it comes with great relief that this appears to not be the case with the Sparta Pride.
The two little females are often seen at Londolozi with their mother and another of the pride females. This leaves the three remaining Sparta Pride females moving throughout the territory. Sadly the three tiny cubs that were seen just after christmas have not been seen since the floods, and we fear that we may have to write them off.
Luckily for us, at Londolozi, is that since the Sparta Pride have decided to side with the Majingilanes, we are seeing them on a near daily basis. They provide excellent viewing and we watch on intrigued to see how things shape out for this pride. These five lionesses have struggled over the last three years but now show huge potential for growth.
Footage released in early December 2011 shows the same cubs when they were first seen at Londolozi

Have the 5 females chased the Tsalalas away?
No the Tsalalas are still doing alright and have managed to maintain their territory. They appear to be spending a little bit more time north of the Sand River than usual. The Sparta Pride is in the eastern parts of central Londolozi.
That was exactly what I wondered..having seen the Tsalala pride last June and following the little boys’ demise, I feel a keen connection to them. So, Londolozi sits at the western edge of Kruger, correct? Do these prides/coalitions ever intermingle with those prides/coalitions? Do they cross boundaries/borders and interbreed, that you know of? seems as though the Majing’s are keepimg all other DNA at bay for now.
Thank you Adam!
Thanks so very much.
