The Sparta Pride continue to have a rough ride. After the recent death of one of the females in the pride, thanks to the Majingilanes, sightings of this pride have reduced somewhat. I believe that they are now spending more time in the remote southern parts of Londolozi in a desperate attempt to stay away from the Majingilane Coalition.
In this latest piece you can see the current state of the pride. The 3 females are leading the charge and the two sub-adult males, together with the gorgeous Tsalala Young Male (Solo) back up the rear. Note two interesting things from this footage, firstly how Tsalala Young Male’s mane is starting to thicken and darken and secondly how the young male who is at the back is in a terrible state. You can see how his tale drags along the ground and he walks with a limp. On closer inspection you can clearly see bite marks all along his spine. This male is lucky to be alive…but can he pull through and help get this pride out of a low point?
We watch in interest to see how the Majingilanes approach the potential take over of this pride and what this may mean for Tsalala Young Male! What do you think is going to be the ultimate outcome? Let us know in the comments below…
news update: last night a badly injured lion was found. Maybe from the Sparta Pride…could they be another important member down by this afternoon!
Wonderful to see Solo growing into a beautiful male lion, I hope he can keep out of the Majingilane’s clutches.
They just ca’t catch a break can they… Any indications as to how?
We are grateful for each update. Thanks.
It seems the Sparta young lions made a lot of bad choices… Other lions encounter Majingilane too but nobody suffered such losses ! If they associated themselves with 2 older lionesses maybe their experience guide this group for a normal process , young lionesses became a unit and produce cubs , the next little spartans…
We have 3 lionesses four years old and they never show interest in breeding. The 2 young males four years old don’t look like spartans neither , are too underdeveloped and scared .
I hoped Tsalala young male will help the youngsters but the effect was contrary on long term.
Anyway he is the only one who benefit from his association with Sparta pride . He is the only one who survive well fed and without scratches .
I really hope some day to heard that this male turn and fight for his pride and don’t run for his own safe …
Adam, I wait anxiously for news of the badly injured lion (biting my fingernails). Thanks for the recent lot of Lion Pride Updates. They are wonderful and very insightful 🙂
mal wieder ein guter artikel…mir gefällt dein schreibstil!!! Weiter so!
Can Rich or someone tell me if they think the bite marks will prove fatal?
Adam/Rich, any news on the badly injured lion?? I know you guys are busy – doing things other than chatting to us 😉 and I appreciate the time you take to keep updates.
Please Adam/ Rich don’t let us in dark… What happened with that lion and what is the status of Sparta pride now ?
Hello Adam/Rich any chance to find news about that badly injured lion ? Is still alive ?
At present the lion is doing okay and is with the pride. The current make up of the pride this morning is as follows:
3 young females
2 adult females (one of which has broken off to mate with the Majingilane over the last week and then returned)
1 young male (the brother of the three young females)
Tsalala Young Male.
Many thanks Rich for news … could I believe that the 2 Breakaway sparta females reunited with younger lions and now are a single unit ?
It will be fantastic for the future of the pride …..
Yes that is what has currently happened. It will be interesting to see how the Mating with the Majingilane turns out.
Thanks for the update Rich.
Hey Rich,
thanks for the updates.
Good news the the injured lioness is still alive and is with the rest of the pride. Let’s hope for a full recovery.
But now is sounds like one of the young males is missing? Any information as to what happened to himß
Thanks and regards
Peter
