Two weeks ago we brought you the story of Graham Wood, competitor in the 4Deserts Iceland Trail Run, who is running for the Good Work Foundation. Covering over 260 kilometers of Icelands toughest and incredibly rugged terrain, this is arguably one of the toughest trails runs on the planet today. Since the story broke, over ZAR 150 000 has been raised through Graham and his colleagues for the mission of the Good Work Foundation and two other competitors have joined in on the fundraising.

Why are you doing this?
James & I were looking for an awesome challenge to do together for some time – he suggested this race, I called his bluff…. turns out he wasn’t bluffing!
Why are you running for the good work foundation?
It’s great to use this opportunity to help the people helping the people back home in South Africa! Helping underprivileged children with the education they need to break their families’ cycle of poverty seems to me to be one of the best long term catalysts for long term positive change in the country.
Talk about the race…
It’s the first time I’m attempting a race in this format (or any race for that matter!)… I’ve had a few epic adventures including sailing a 42ft yacht with 2 guys from Cape Town to Sydney and Cycling 10,500km mostly solo from Beijing through China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand to Bangkok in 2006. Though with the pressure of work it’s tough to take enough time out for an adventure of this scale. The Iceland race with 250km within a week and great mates joining seemed like the best substitute….

Getting back in shape from all the training.
What are the lows?
The long list of injuries from all the training!
