There is a low and gentle sound of a rumble from her abdomen. We all know the sound. My guest defensively places her hand on her stomach and apologises bashfully for this very natural sound. We celebrate these sounds in the Healing House they indicate that the parasympathetic nervous system is activating your innate healing response of rest and digest. We see the subtle changes start to happen as the jaw relaxes and the lips gently part when the breath deepens and slows. Seeing the body slip into a state of unguarded rest is witnessing a natural magic. We heal when we allow rest.
I’ve seen this play out hundreds of times over the last two decades of practice in body work. I always find myself curious by the fact that the human inclination is toward shame when we are found unconsciously relaxing. We pull our bellies in and constrict natural breathing patterns. We mask our yawns and sighs. We apologise for the completely natural sound of digestion.
Here at the Healing House, we welcome you to lay down all defences as you lay down on our treatment beds and come into remembrance of the miracle that is your human physiology. When you enter our healing space you find yourself at the entrance of a natural window to the wilderness. Intentionally placed sacred geometry, beautiful wallpaper and crystals frame the entrance as you arrive. From here you are met by one of our team of five gifted therapists and led into one of our four beautiful treatment spaces.
Our treatments are all curated for holistic full-body wellness. We focus less on products and more on authentic intentional care for your mind and spirit as well as your body. Our treatment modality centres on intuition. We aim to provide a memorable somatic experience that soothes all senses and connects you to your inner world. Our physiological inner worlds reflect nature so beautifully. See the image of a human lung and the branches of a tree.
The small blood vessels webbed through the hands like rivers across a landscape. A fingerprint alongside the rings of a tree.
Our hope is that as you leave you feel a deepened sense of connection to the natural world. More a part of your natural environment than separate from it. And free to be more of your wilder truer self.
Christina, thank you for sharing your thoughts about nature and the human condition. We do indeed need to just relax and allow our natural bodies to function as they were meant too. Healing can happen when we allow ourselves to be a part of nature.
Sign me up! The Healing House was under construction when we visited, so I am anxious to book a session whenever we return.
I always love having a massage at your healing house whenever I am at Londolozi. It’s so relaxing and refreshing. I regularly have massages at home, however, out in the bush relaxation is even more intensive. One breathes in the fresh air of the bush, hears the sounds of nature and body and soul can really regenerate completely.
A lovely blog, thank you Christina . The Healing House is a beautiful space . It is always wonderful to nurture our spirit there as part of our Londolozi experience.
Christina I am sure a person will relax while be in the healing house. Healing will definitely happen in the bush with so much tranquility and serenity there, not to talk about the fresh clean air.
The best souvenir one can take away from Londolozi is time spent in the Healing House. You’ve truly created a place where one can leave stress at the door and allow ourselves to be guided on a path to healing body and soul by becoming one with the natural world. Thank you for the reminder Christina.
