Great to have some some-what new males around! Thanks for the update Kegan. Its an instersting pattern that alot of young/new coalitions always seem to have their start in the open southern areas of the reserve (Selatis and KNPs from as far back as 2010s). I wonder what keeps making this area a pseudo no-man’s land, especially since theres abundant prey. Lovely photos as always and happy Monday!

Nice guys, this renamed Nkumati Coalition.
By the way, is it known, more or less, who fathered the Tsalala lioness’ cubs?
Beautiful photos of the pair.

What a beautiful piece. Their names were a mouthful on radio had me folded! 😂 But changing their names isn’t just about making it easier for the radio, but more about marking the moment these boys stopped being defined by their past and started being defined by the future they’re building together! Powerful words

It’s fantastic news to learn that these two males have finally been given a coalition name, after spending so much time together. Even more interesting is that they have been mating with the Mhageni Pride, for a long time the pride of the Plains Camp males. I know the Mhageni Pride has been seen on the Londolozi reserve with cubs – possibly by the Nkumati coalition? Seems there are even more fascinating stories ahead….

Lions are lions. They are a great coalition, I’ve always admired their string will ans sometimes peculiar attitudes. Great personality to be glad of! Thank you for this blog edition!

Remind me, these two aren’t related are they? Or perhaps distantly? I can’t recall the back story of their lineages.

Hi Keagan, I certainly like the new name of the coalition Nkumati Coalition. They are both beautiful lions and there is a place on Londolozi where they can mate with the Mhangeni pride and have their own cubs. Thanks for the update.
