As we embraced the festive spirit, our recent encounter with the enchanting Plaque Rock Female and her trio of cubs at Londolozi felt like an extraordinary gift we’re excited to share with everyone back home. Navigating through the joyful celebrations of Christmas, we extend warm wishes to all, and this wildlife spectacle serves as a heartwarming reminder of the beauty and magic inherent in nature.
With the dawn breaking, anticipation filled the air as we approached the den. To our delight, the Plaque Rock Female rested regally atop the boulder, a majestic presence against the morning light. In the true spirit of giving, our morning game drive unfolded with elation, filled with magical moments provided by this majestic leopard and her adorable cubs.
The three cubs, impossibly cute and brimming with curiosity, explored their surroundings with enthusiasm. Whether clumsily navigating the boulders or testing the limits of their tiny legs, their antics kept us entertained for the entire duration of our stay. The Plaque Rock Female indulged us with a tender drink at the water’s edge, only to return to an enthusiastic greeting from the three cubs, resulting in a delicate grasp of one cub in her mouth. The gentle return to the den, a haven of safety and warmth, with the other two stumbling behind her, added to the enchantment of the morning. The climax of this extraordinary encounter unfolded as one cub ventured into the open, providing the perfect photographic opportunity.
After spending a morning immersed in the world of these leopards, we reluctantly decided to bid adieu, knowing that this Christmas gift would be cherished for a lifetime. As we journey on, we carry with us not just the visual spectacle, but the warmth of the season and the joy of shared moments—a gift from Londolozi to each and every one of you, with heartfelt wishes for a festive season filled with wonder and joy, whether you celebrate Christmas or not.

Merry Christmas to everybody at Londolozi!
The Plaque Rock Female is such a pretty leopard and the three little ones are just adorable and mega cute.
It looks as if she has an infection or really bloody tits. Is this a problem for her and/ or the cubs?
Thank you, Christa. Merry Christmas to you too. I don’t think it is a problem for her but must just be really painful when the cubs try nurse.
Oh my! – 14 minutes of pure bliss. Thank you so much Sean for a fabulous Christmas present.

Sean, That was was a fabulous Christmas gift! It was so special to see all the interaction with the Plaque Rock Female and THREE cubs – just beautiful. The den seems like a perfect place for them and it’s nice that they are not to far from camp. We know that the Londolozi holiday festivities are so special for the guests and staff and we hope you have a fabulous holiday!
Thank you so much, Michael. it was such a perfect sighting to share with everyone over the festive season. The den is perfect for her.
What a magnificent gift you gave us with this epic footage of the Plague rock female and her three gorgeous cubs. They are so cute and very inquisitive, exploring everything around them. Mom seems to be at ease with her rock den with the three playing around there. Fantastic video thank you so much Sean.
Thank you, Valmai. I am glad you enjoyed it.
Today’s virtual safari was the best kind of Christmas gift Sean. I have watched every video since they debuted during the lock-down, and today’s ranks in the top 10 best, in my opinion. Those cubs are so tiny, yet perfectly formed mini leopards as their tails begin to turn more white at the tip. Personality differences are definitely noticeable as one is quite adventurous, another extremely timid and the third falls in between. At one point we could see them all milling about on top of the boulder and at that point, had Plaque Rock inserted herself among them, you might have had your perfect photo opportunity. Her den looks like the perfect, secluded creche in which to protect her cubs while she’s hunting.
Sending Christmas wishes to everyone at Londolozi for bright, happy days of celebrating with friends and family!
Thank you so much, Denise. I feel so honoured that you regard this video to be up there with some of the best. Merry Christmas to you too.

It does warm anyone’s heart! They come as a magical gift and wish for the new year to come! Hope it will be a successful year for these little ones and their mum as well and for anybody, two-and-four-pawed, winged beings!
