As the sun rises over the African horizon, there is a sense of excitement abuzz on Varty Camp lawn. The sweet smell of chocolate and the sound of laughter fills the air – Easter has arrived! And with it brings a celebration of joy and family. This year (and as often as possible), we are turning our attention to the little things that make life so meaningful and so it was decided that our theme for Easter would be The Little Five & The Hare, and the bigger lessons they’re offering us…
The Little Five & The Hare
Easter is a holiday that holds various meanings for different people. For some, it’s a religious celebration, while for others, it signifies new beginnings and the renewal of hope. This year, the Londolozi Family is celebrating the little things and realising how important they are. Family is at the heart of everything we do and as we celebrate Easter, we are reminded of the importance of community and togetherness, and we are grateful for the simple things in life.
The African wilderness is bursting with examples of this – it could be the intricate patterns on a butterfly’s wings or the delicate scent of a flower in bloom, the flick of a sleeping leopard’s tail or the muddy splat on an elephant’s leathery hide. The warmth of the sun on our skin or the feeling of a gentle breeze on a hot day, the beauty of a sunset or a starry sky that leaves us in awe. More often than we realise, the little things in life can hold great significance and fill us with joy.
These small but significant moments are not limited to nature alone. It is also in the connections we share with our loved ones that we find true joy. It is in the simple acts of kindness that we show to one another that are worth their weight in gold. These acts could be as simple as a warm embrace, a shared meal, or a heartfelt conversation… As we celebrate Easter with our loved ones, we are reminded to cherish these moments and to appreciate the people and experiences that bring us happiness.
We invite you to take a moment as often as possible to value the little things and the quiet moments, and embrace the spirit of The Little Five & The Hare. Let us remember the importance of family and community, and savour the flavours of a delicious meal shared with loved ones, cherish the memories of times gone by, and embrace the hope and promise of new beginnings.
From our Londolozi family to yours, we hope you had a Happy Easter, filled with love, joy and countless small but significant things.
Show gratitude for the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things…
Happy Easter!
I will never forget Easter breakfast at Londolozi. It was the morning of our first game drive when we visited in 2018. It’s hard to believe it’s already been five years, but I’ve not missed a blog post yet. Until we can return… Happy Easter.
How wonderful, Chelsea. I agree with you completely, the Easter breakfast is very special & I am delighted to hear that you enjoy our blogs so much!
Thank you Shannon for sharing.
You’re welcome, William.
Two years ago I spent Easter at Londolozi and it was such a wonderful time with all the Easter Bunnies and the delicious food on the lawn of your camps.
Hopefully some time in the future I will enjoy easter at Londolozi again. It’s such a special event.
What special memories, Christa. We look forward to your return.
A joyous occasion…..as is every day at Londolozi!
It certainly is, Judith!
This blog reminds me of a happy, hoppy Easter at Londolozi in 2017! It looks as though this Easter was magical as well! Belated Easter wishes to you all!
It really was a magical day, thank you, Mary Beth. I hope you had a great Easter too.
Bloody Mary please! Those look outstanding! 🙂
They were delicious!!
Shannon we had a quiet Pass Over weekend as we prefer the Religious Pass Over. I hope you all enjoyed your Pass Over weekend. It looks as if Londolozi had a good time entertainment the guests with their pink and white jumper suits.
That sounds wonderful, Valmai. It was indeed a special day here at Londolozi.
Shannon, order us up two of Kelly’s bloody marys and one of those waffle sundaes please!!!
We will have it ready and waiting for you next year, Bob & Lucie!
Shannon, I loved this post and especially your nod to the Little Five. I’m sure everyone enjoyed the celebration, little and big kids alike. I thoroughly enjoyed my Easter there a couple of years ago when we celebrated The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. I returned home and bought myself a copy and was so happy the animated film won an Oscar this year! See you soon!!
Thank you, Denise. Travel safely & we look forward to seeing you soon.
Nice group shot, but not sure who took it. Is that Kyle behind the camera???
Thank you, Bob & Lucie. Kyle is on some well-deserved leave at the moment, and our camera women for this shot was Karin who kindly helped us at the photobooth.
Such a beautiful celebration. Loved the Little 5 and the Hare.
Thank you Fabiola, it was a joyful day!
Happy Easter to you all!!
Thank you, Paul. We hope you had a happy one too.
