This week we realised that a few of the Ntsevu Pride females have all got cubs. Noticing that a number of females have suckles marks, a clear indication that one of them is stashing cubs somewhere on Londolozi. The big question is: where? We set off in the hopes of finding their den. For lions it is a challenging task as unless you follow a female back to a den it is so difficult to find the den as the mothers can stash their cubs in a very tiny inconspicuous clump of grass.
While we are hard on the search we get a little side-tracked and surprised by elephants not just once but a number of times.

Great shots of the morning sun on the elephants.
Love to watch the young ones learning to ue their trunks.
I am always amazed at how quiet their steps are as they walk past.
Thank you so much, Vin. I love watching the young elephants too they are so entertaining. An elephant’s footsteps are so quiet.
That was a lovely surprise to see so many beautiful elephants and babies! You are totally forgiven for getting sidetracked!
It was indeed a lovely surprise and one we did not regret getting sidetracked by.
What a great morning you had with all these elephants. The tiny babies are just so cute with their little trunks and feet. The bulls are really huge and especially one of them has really impressive tusks.
Good luck to you to find the lion cubs soon. I am looking forward to hearing more about them.
Thank you so much, Christa. It was a great morning with the elephants. Let the search for the cubs continue.
Sean that was such a awesome video with the most adorable elephant calves. They are just so cute, walking with their mothers and even drinking in-between the walking and feeding. There are a lot of elephants on Londolozi and those bulls are massive. My goodness that one bull walked right past your Land Rover, my heart would of been pounding.
Elephant calves are probably one of my favourites, but yes there are a lot of elephants around at the moment. He did walk right passed us and it was such a special moment.
It was certainly elephant day for you whilst searching for the lions’ dens and I couldn’t be happier. The breeding herds were especially visually captivating inasmuch there were a few small calves. When calves are present, you know you are in for some incredible moments – possibly playing in the water or mud, trumpeting with ears flapping at your vehicle, or quietly walking towards mom to get a quick meal. Thanks for another awesome video.
It really was such an awesome morning. Any time with elephants is never wasted.
Wow, Sean, stunning footage of the Londolozi elephants!! Quick question; you mentioned you need to prioritize your safety as the bull was pursuing the female with the intent to mate. What is the danger to you and your group? Would you be in the way of the pursuit, causing the bull to charge the vehicle?
Thank you so much, Paul. We just didn’t want to get in the way as they were running towards us and we didn’t want to get caught in the crossfire.
Got it, makes so much sense!!
Coming across a breeding herd of Elephants is like coming upon treasure. Also baby Elephants are the sweetest most pure little beings – happiness through and through!
