1. A South African Safari Is One Of The Most Romantic Experiences In The World
One of the most romantic experiences is undoubtedly a luxury safari in South Africa. As soon as you step off your plane onto African soils something inside you changes – your heart feels at home. Maybe it’s the panoramic wild landscape; the elephants majestically roaming and rumbling on the horizon; the outdoor bubble bath in front of your suite; the different time-zone disconnecting you from the rest of the world; or maybe it’s those fleeting moments shared together with a glass of South African bubbles in hand watching the sun fade… You’ll soon realise that it’s all of these little encounters stitched together that create something truly magical. Londolozi’s Private Granite Suites are what bring all these experiences into one – with the opportunity to book a private vehicle – let nature bring you even closer together.
2.Pair Your Safari With Other Romantic Locations In South Africa
South Africa is diverse and no one experience will compare to the next. A romantic getaway on safari is even better when paired with another stop at one or two of South Africa’s most exquisite destinations.
- Experience superb wine and cuisine in the Cape Winelands.
- Cable-car to the top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa’s Mother City. Explore this city’s charm by eating out, spending days on its white beaches and taking in the magnificent mountains.
- Self-drive along the Garden Route – a coastline boasting quaint seaside towns, exquisite vegetation and boutique hotels.
- For those looking for cozy cottages, rolling hills and decadent cuisine, the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands adds some countryside romance to your trip.
3. A Honeymoon Safari In South Africa Won’t Be Once Off
One of the best things about choosing an African safari for your Honeymoon is that it won’t be a once-off experience. Many couples arrive thinking their safari is a once in a life-time trip, but once Africa steals your heart it’s hard not to return. And that’s the beauty – your special times on Honeymoon will be revisited. A day on safari is never the same, and so when returning for an anniversary, one should expect another exciting but different trip that will leave you with the same feeling. Londolozi’s five camps mean you can further explore the lodge and that one day you can bring your children and multigenerational family to show them the magic you discovered on your safari honeymoon.
4. Frame Worthy Honeymoon Pictures
If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to document your Honeymoon and make sure to print it into a coffee table book to go alongside your wedding album. For those of you who enjoy taking pictures then you will find yourself in photography heaven whilst on your Honeymoon Safari. Think exquisite sunset shots, beautiful vistas, river beds, boulders, Land Rovers, safari chic, bubbles from your private deck and of course spectacular wildlife shots. Don’t worry about lugging your camera equipment all the way here – simply rent from Londolozi’s Photographic Studio. Before you leave make sure to book an editing session with a photographic ranger who will gladly help you edit your best images and print them.
5. There’s Always Time For A Little R&R
For some a Honeymoon means a little bit of pampering and R and R, and who can blame you – you’ve just organised an entire wedding! Going on a Honeymoon safari does not mean you need to skip out on the much-needed time spent in your slippers and gown. Londolozi’s Healing House is the perfect escape! Step into a tranquil space smelling of African botanicals and over-looking the Sand River. Our hope is that at the Londolozi Healing House you will rediscover intentional resting , and become attuned to the natural world in one of the most luxurious safari wellness spots Africa has to offer. 6. Romantic Dining Opportunities
For many, Honeymoons are about romantic dinners – memorable conversations had over candlelit and delectable cuisine. A Honeymoon in South Africa offers an abundant array of unusual and magical dining experiences. For instance, one night on safari you might be in a boma, trying different South African wines around a camp fire beneath a star studded sky. The next night you might request a private dinner on your suite’s wooden deck. The Londolozi Honeymoon Package also includes a romantic private dinner and turn down – each meal will be a unique experience.
Londolozi’s Private Granite Suites also has a deck looking over the Sand River where lunch can be enjoyed, and in the afternoons light a fire in the sunken cocktail lounge and cosy up before the sun disappears. And then there are the sundowners… no sunset is taken lightly at Londolozi. After an exhilarating drive, you’ll be parked strategically to watch the sky change colours with an ice-cold something in hand…
7. Privacy and Exclusivity
After months of planning and seeing all friends and family in one weekend, sometimes the most important aspect of your Honeymoon is some time-out together. Often the most luxurious part of a holiday is having time to yourselves, time to reconnect and the freedom to part with your technical devices. The Private Granite Suites are the gateway to this! With only three suites, this camp makes for the most romantic, exclusive private villa in Africa.
Thanks to its unique location on the banks of the Sand River, you can secretly watch the elephants drink from the river from the comfort of your suite. With a fully stocked mini-bar, don’t forget to pop a bottle of limitless bubbly. You can select a bottle of South African wine to enjoy together or request a bottle of French bubbles. Each suite blends the boundaries between inside and outside. It allows to create a seamless integration with nature with its large glass windows and luxurious outdoor bath. Not to mention the private heated swimming pool. For us, meditative luxury is a celebration of simplicity and a return to the way of nature.
8. The Opportunity to Bath Beneath The Stars
This feature of the Private Granite Suites needed to be a point on its own. There is something breath-taking about an outdoor bath tub. Maybe it’s because it’s a simple experience but now in a magical location; maybe it’s the canvas of stars above you, or maybe it’s just that much better because you’re on Honeymoon. The Private Granite Suite’s outdoor bathtub adds something unique to your African experience…
9. The Views – Oh The Views
From your suite, to the deck and out on drive – our safari experience will take you to all corners of the reserve and with that comes incredible vistas. Marvel at the varying African landscape as you have a cup of coffee on a ‘koppie’; cross the Sand River and catch a glimpse of elephants bathing; or spot impala sprinting across the crest across from you as you sit at the Riverside Bar. It’s these views that give you perspective of the vastness of nature, and the exhilaration that comes with exploring it.
10. Being Surrounded By Nature Is Ultimately The Most Romantic Part Of All
The Londolozi Honeymoon Package includes a private Land Rover with a private Ranger and Tracker and use of Swarovski binoculars. This will ensure you privacy and extraordinary wildlife sightings. By the end of your Honeymoon you’ll realise that this immersion in nature together was the highlight. From those breath-taking close up encounters with leopards; feeling the vibration of a lion’s call move through your body; admiring the kaleidoscopic colouration of the birds which frequent the sky; to that calming feeling you get when listening to the Sand River flow past you. It is the combination of all these moments together that makes your honeymoon truly memorable.
“Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures…” – Lewis Carroll (Alice in Wonderland)
With such diversity – it’s no wonder that couples choose South Africa time-and-time-again for Honeymoons. From its famous dusty sunsets to its exquisite winelands, couples leave with a new love for this unique country. It’s time to plan the ultimate Honeymoon Safari in South Africa with Londolozi…

Love this article! My hubs & I are staying in the Granite Suites in September for our 25 year anni. I love these special / exclusive perks and wish londolozi could offer a similar package for special anniversaries too : )
Hi Jemma, everything you have written in this blog is a romance honeymoon to die for. What else can a person ask for than what you have already mentioned. To be in nature and with the person you love is the ultimate honeymoon, seeing the animals in their natural environment and having your own personal Ranger and Tracker show you around and have all the pampering you can have to make you feel a million dollars. Londolozi is the ideal place for a honeymoon love adventure.
When we realized we could make my African safari dreams come true for the same cost as an average American wedding, it was a no brained. We eloped in a minuscule garden ceremony and 18 months later we were off for a 12 day honeymoon adventure to the Winelands, Londolozi (the highlight for sure) and Victoria Falls. I never thought we’d be able to make that trip a reality, and now that we have, I can’t imagine not coming back. Hopefully I’ll be returning for my 40th birthday in two years. Fingers crossed!
Jemma, It’s way to late for our honeymoon, but you have me convinced for our 50th wedding anniversary, not that far away! ❤ Sounds perfect.
Honeymoons, special anniversaries or birthdays, South Africa offers some of the best options for a true adventure. Your descriptive blog could convince the most leery couple that South Africa offers the perfect honeymoon! Skip the fancy wedding that costs $$$$$$, and opt for a more intimate ceremony, and spend your budget on a really special lifetime adventure.
However, saying this, as a single 65+ adult, this is the the trip that appealed to me for my first South African experience, vineyards + safari, and has kept me returning again and again. A trip to South Africa is a must for anyone who loves to travel, dipping their minds and soul into a world of sensory experiences.
Jemma, We couldn’t agree more! We have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries at Londolozi over the years and have recommended a Londolozi/South Africa honeymoon to friends who took us up on the idea and absolutely loved it! Granite Suites are the best!!!
