Summer is here and so are a lot of the migrants.
That might be a red herring.
Or it might not be.
Today’s bird is fairly nondescript, as I’m sure you can tell from the picture below. The species is very common at Londolozi, and more often than not is found in pairs or small groups.
Those are enough clues to get you started. The answer will be in tomorrow’s Week in Pictures.
Good luck!
This is really just a guess. A grey back sparrow lark.
James, I have no idea
It looks like our English house sparrow but I doubt it would migrate to South Africa. I’ve seen similar ones in Namibia and I think it could be the cape sparrow. Maggy
You did well narrowing it to a sparrow, Maggy …
Sparrow ..
Cape Sparrow – female 🙂
Not a clue – looking forward to learning who this brown bird is…
Southern Grey Headed Sparrow
Nice one!
I love these WBIS tests … could I suggest they become a regular weekly/biweekly feature, James?! Although honestly the Burchell’s coucal is the only one I’ve nailed!
Haha nice one Alex. ironically the Burchell’s Coucal was one of the tougher ones!
