Many of our guests want to meet Kate Groch, the remarkable woman (and teacher) who features in Boyd’s book and the brains behind a new model of education that is revolutionising the way learning happens in the rural villages and towns not so far from Londolozi.
We think a recent proudly South African video is the best way to meet Kate, and see first-hand what it is that Kate and her team are empowering. The video shows a graduation that takes place – believe it or not – in an old banana-packing barn in a village called Shabalala.
That barn has been witness to more than 750 graduates, a 95% pass rate in 2015, 1429 completed digital modules in 2015 and, since September, a digital learning programme that reaches 3000 children per week.

Kate, you are the most amazing person and I hope to meet you in person one day. It is so exciting to see your vision and dream of a new model of education for the rural villages of South Africa coming true and I’m sure you and your students must be very proud of their accomplishments. Great things happen when you have great people encouraging others to strive for their dreams.
Dear Jill.
thank you for your message. I am grateful everyday to work with this wonderful GWF Team and to be part of the place where young people begin to find their purpose and start to create their own futures.
thank you for your support of our Dream . the support of the wider Londolozi family inspires us everyday to keep doing the Good Work.
Warm regards
Kate
Kate, amazing work. Learning is addictive – once our desire to learn is ignited, the urge to keep learning continues throughout our lives. Well done to all the students of GWF.
