Beautifully written. After all the sadness and horrific events of the past couple of days in the US, this speaks to that inner unity of all people. If humans could just tap into the togetherness, not otherness of social solidarity and also find the human place WITHIN the natural world, not just trying to dominate it, what a much better world we would have. Thank you for this so timely, thought-provoking and inspirational piece. Well-done, as always.

Great work, Sam!! I love this so much!! Especially lately, here in the US, our communities have been so aggressive and violent towards each other and this is a great reminder that we need to work together and feel each other’s pain in order to succeed in this world. Thank you!!

Got tears in my eyes. Well written, Sam! Love the idea of teamwork being as much about receiving as giving.

Sam, there is absolutely no comment that I could write here that would come close to expressing how beautifully written and thoughtful your reflection is that you have posted here. Thank you.

Hi Sam. I loved your post. I was with you every hard step of the way behind the Land Rover. It truly is beautifully written. I enjoyed your summary, at the end, and agree that it is a gift for every individual to be given the chance to find their place in a community.

Initiation into a team or tribe is a fascinating subject. Discussing it usually results in many different and sometimes divisive opinions. Thank you for re-igniting my thoughts on this and adding yours. It is well written, absorbing, and clearly close to your heart. I find Sebastian Junger’s initial question to be particularly intriguing. Well done!
