Nice article and amazing pics. The two of them are great looking boys, they rule with an iron fist and already have cubs with both the Sparta and Fourways prides lionesses.

Thanks for the update.

Hey James, Matimbas previously have chased the two Matshapiri Males in MalaMala.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the update.
That wouldn’t surprise me as the Matimbas are certainly the bigger males!

Good to see Matshapiri back on Londolozi but Matimbas are very dangerous on a 2 vs 2 situation. Matshapiri need to stay away.

Matimbas are my favorite. Hope the old boys rule for some more years.

Wow 2 Matshapiri vs 2 Matimbas would be a real treat!! But my money is on Matimbas.

James, the 3 Talamati Males are the offsprings of the 2 Matimba Males from Talamati pride.

Hi Marias,
Thanks we did know that. Nice to see them hanging around in the south of the property 🙂

Hi Marias,
Thanks, we did know that, not sure if everyone else was aware. Nice to see them spending some time on Londoz…

Thanks for the lion update. I want to see who are bigger between these two coalitions. The 2 Matshapiri or the 2 Matimbas?

Hi Joe,
Almost certainly the Matimbas are bigger males…

Thanks James. I knew you probably would better know them.
I am guessing how their father’s would react if they come in contact with them!

Thanks for the update James. I love hearing what is going on with the different lion coalitions, it’s so interesting. Also, fantastic pictures!

I saw the Matshipiris in October at Londolozi and definitely agree that they are smaller than the Matimbas. I figured with the new cubs they would stay at Mala Mala. It makes me nervous to think they came back with the cubs especially with the Tsalala pride having cubs around as well. I hope all remain safe!

Wow incredible piece of writing! Felt like i was there. Beautiful writing skills you have got James!

Beside this James, what do you think is the strength or weakness of the Matimbas?

Hi James,
Thanks for the blog, is it possible that the 3 offspring, the 2 talabati males, and their fathers do meet up and make a coalition? they would be 5 then, and can match all 4 Majingilanes? or any other rivals?
