You might enjoy the book The Gift of Fear by Gavin deBecker. Mr. DeBecker once worked for the FBI and became a sought after security expert for celebrities and others. The book is a fascinating look at how our intuition, which is really our inheritance of all the things our species learned through the course of evolution, lets us know when danger is present if we just listen to it.

Wonderfully written. I think our instincts for survival have also changed, alongside diminishing, as we still have our gut instinct for when something doesn’t feel quite right. I think that’s something that has been passed down and adapted.
It is nice to think that we still have some of that survival instinct in us, despite living in an entirely different world.

An incredibly potent and meaningful read. I’ve felt those instincts before but I need to get back to the bush to delve deeper into myself, among other things.
