Our latest iBook is now available FREE on the Apple iBookstore. The Londolozi Eco-Guide is the essential iBook for all safari visitors who wish to know more about the wildlife, reptiles, ecology and birds at Londolozi Game Reserve, situated in the Sabi Sands, bordering the Kruger National Park.  This iBook is packed full of high resolution images, informative text and video to help the reader gain a more holistic understanding of how the natural environment at Londolozi fits together.

The Londolozi Eco-Guide

This digital book is designed to enrich your experience at Londolozi Private Game Reserve by providing an ecological overview of the Sabi Sand and by describing and illustrating some of the more interesting animals and plants that you are likely to encounter. Our skilled and experienced rangers will expand on the information presented here as they take you on a voyage of discovery and excitement at Londolozi.

Londolozi is situated in the Sabi-Sand Game Reserve, adjoining the world-renowned Kruger National Park, in the heart of the South African Lowveld. This is one of the richest wildlife regions on the continent, with a great diversity of large and spectacular wildlife – elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo and white rhino are all common and extremely relaxed when approached by vehicles, allowing unsurpassed viewing and photographic opportunities.

The book is comprised of the following chapters, detailing the various flora and fauna occuring in each habitat:

  1. Welcome
  2. People and History
  3. Landscape and Climate
  4. Sand River
  5. Bush-Savanna
  6. Rocky Outcrops
  7. Further Reading

In addition to the iconic wildlife, the Londolozi Eco-Guide also provides explanations about the reptiles, amphibians, weather and ecology.

Activities at Londolozi are centred on game viewing drives in open vehicles, which traverse an area of some 15,000 hectares in search of wildlife, including nocturnal species that are viewed after sunset.  This Eco-Guide, once downloaded onto your iPad, is a wonderful companion for these game drives and serve as an informative reference for the different elements of the natural experience which you may encounter.  For those wanting closer contact with this magnificent African wilderness, armed rangers may lead you on bush walks. Because the lodges have been designed and constructed in harmony with their surroundings, a multitude of wildlife – particularly birds and smaller creatures – is seen while relaxing in camp between drives and walks.

There is also a large section on the various species of birds that frequent Londolozi both as residents and Summer/Winter migrants.

Hi Anne, you will need to sync your iTunes with your iPad as the iBook intended for consumption on an iPad. If you are running the latest operating system from Apple (Mavericks) you will be able to open it on the iBooks software. Rich
