The Magnificent Seven – ‘Out Of Africa’

December 30, 2009

You have to be somewhat of a moviestar to be part of the Londolozi Reservations Team. It is required that you drink champagne high up in the arms of an ebony tree, have dinner with Princess Alice, brave the African bushvled on foot, read poetry by star light, go on game drives with very good looking rangers, eat scrumptious food and of course exfoliate with a dip in a muddy rhino wallow.
For the team of the seven ladies who run the reservations and bookings in Johannesburg, it was all this and more as they came down to celebrate another fantastic year with the Londolozi family in the bush. To view the full post and video click on the heading.

Why Kingsley Heath Rocks

December 27, 2009

As a girl living deep in the African Bush, my weakness for Vogue, Prada and Ralph Lauren can get the better of me. So under the guise of a well planned ‘sales’ trip I nip off to New York or London to get my fix. Over the years I have met some incredibly stylish women on my travels: Liz Biden, Lizzie Westby-Nunn, Kirsty Ratcliffe and my own wonderful mum have each shown me a few fashion tricks….but the reality is that in the bush it is dust, heat and mud all the way. But that doesn’t that you can’t always look gorgeous. To view the full post and video click on the heading above.

Lions Hunt Buffalo – The Inhumanity?

December 15, 2009

The buffalo had no inclining of the pride’s presence. Gently ruminating amongst the lush summer grass, their slothful ignorance was simply a calm before the storm. The stillness of the silent bushveld was soon to be shattered as the pride drew closer to their targets of desire and point of potential sustenance…To view the full post and video click on the heading.

The Soothing Sweep of Life

December 9, 2009

It was Autumn a few months ago. Pastel hues of brown and yellow fell to the ground. The trees were soon bare skeletons and the bushveld became a dry, cold place. It was only the toughest who survived this season. There was heavy competition for sparse patches of food and the journeys to find water were littered with predators taking advantage of their prey’s thirst. How to Graduate in Style

December 1, 2009

It was quintessential rural South Africa. The muddy roads, established Marula trees and concrete huts which had been sneezed across the Bushbuckridge lowveld. Amidst the random scatterings of the village, little boys played soccer in torn and faded Manchester United shirts whilst life carried on around them. It was a Saturday morning, yet the children were at school. The end of the year was graduation time and for the Grade 1 Class of Xalakani School (A primary school supported by the Londolozi Learning Centre and Good Work Foundation) it was an incredibly special day.
